THE DRAGON'S WAGON G A M M A P S I C H A P T E R O F B E T A T H E T A P I Fall 2015 Beta Theta Pi Approaches $300,000 Goal Submit Your Gift Today to Secure a Future for Gamma Psi M SU Beta Theta Pi is now entering our fourth year back on campus and third year at 207 Bogue Street. We rechartered during the 175th Beta Convention in August 2014, and are approaching a chapter with 70 active brothers. However, there are challenges. We have a long- term MSU Beta housing plan in a very restrictive and expensive East Lansing housing market. To keep our eyes on the market, we have a dedicated group of alumni, including alumni in Lansing, who can respond locally. Where do we go together from here? We cannot rest on our recent successes and take the path of least resistance when it comes to challenges. Often, the four- to six-year mark is where alumni and actives turn on the cruise control and mistakes happen due to lack of focus and intensity. Therefore, we need your help with your resources to keep the focus and intensity level high! SEND IN YOUR GIFT TODAY Soon, we will be ending our two-year Pride in our Past, Legacy for the Future fundraising campaign, and have raised nearly $213,000 to date. We are $87,000 short of our $300,000 goal with only four months to go. We need your gift now; this can be considered a once-in- a-lifetime ask! I magine having the opportunity to shoot films featuring high-profile celebrities and getting to travel all over the world. For Mike Lobell '62, these opportunities are his reality. Although Mike has become a massively successful film producer, he did not develop an interest in film until early in his undergraduate career at Michigan State University, when he was introduced to foreign comedy films by a friend. Mike jumpstarted his career in the film industry in 1978 by producing Dreamer, which focused on a young man who wanted to become the world's greatest bowler, in Alton, Illinois, which many refer to as bowling's first feature film. Mike has made a tremendous impact on the film industry, and has marked his success with reputable films such as White Fang, based on the classical novel written by Jack London, Honeymoon in Vegas, featuring Nicholas Cage and Sarah Jessica Parker, Strip Tease, featuring Demi Moore, Tears of the Sun, featuring Bruce Willis, Gambit, featuring Cameron Diaz, and The Freshman, starring Marlon Brando, the greatest film actor of all time, who came out of a 10-year retirement to do the film.
