The inaugural Tehama County Open Studio art- ist tour is coming Dec. 4-6. This three-day self- guided tour will provide a unique look into many local artists' creative stu- dio spaces throughout Te- hama County. Participating Cotton- wood artist and instructor Sandi Palmer says she was born with a paint brush in her mouth. "An airy child with my head in the clouds I won numerous awards all through school and was art editor for school news- papers and yearbooks," Palmer said. Palmer came to Tehama County in 1976 and soon was taking art lessons. Her instructor Lorraine Campbell put her in the window of her store. "A showman was born," Palmer said. "I loved painting in front of peo- ple. It gave them pleasure and that made me happy." Palmer is a lifelong learner with a thirst for knowledge. In 1982, she started teaching and host- ing workshops in her stu- dio and continues today including her beauty work. "With a God given tal- ent I find peace in my art in such a fast paced world," Palmer said. You will have the op- portunity to speak with Palmer and other local art- ists about their work, ask questions, watch demon- strations and support and promote their individual work during the event. For more information, visit Open Studio Tehama County on Facebook. OPENSTUDIO Palmeramongfeatured artists in local art tour Will Durst, Larry "Bub- bles" Brown and Johnny Steele will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 at Red Bluff's State Theatre. See the comedians per- form live as they riff on clips from "3 Still Stand- ing," weaving together film and stand-up comedy for a hilarious and memo- rable journey into the lives of three gifted comedians. The documentary fol- lows the stand-up ca- reers of the three comedi- ans, who are credited with helping launch a comedy revolution in San Fran- cisco during the 1980s alongside Dana Carvey, Rob Schneider and Paula Poundstone. All were awed and influenced by Robin Williams. Williams provides a poignant focal point for "3 Still Standing," which has toured U.S. film fes- tivals and was shown at last month's Hot Docs in Toronto, North Ameri- ca's largest documentary festival. His 2013 inter- view for the documentary represents one of Wil- liams' final appearances on screen. Tickets are $25 for adults at wwwstatethe- atreredbluff.com or Te- hama Country Visitor Cen- ter.
