The Highest Recommendation There Is W e're always looking for young men who have the character to make great Sigma Phi Epsilon brothers. If you know someone who would be a great SigEp, please pass along his contact information to us. Who knows, this may be the first step of a lifelong relationship! Conners '66 Capt. Chris Norgren '07 I t is fun to do these updates as our Chapter and MO Gamma Alumni Corporation are doing outstandingly. Our undergraduate members ended the first semester in the top position academically for all Greek organizations, even ahead of the sororities. Their involvement on campus is strong with numerous leadership positions, and they finished third in intramurals. The undergraduate members are a group of outstanding young men that we can all be proud to call brothers. The Chapter has been successful in recruiting a faculty advisor, Kristi Schulte. Additionally, the Chapter has recruited Dean of Engineering Ian Ferguson and Dr. Andreas Eckert to serve as faculty fellows. Having people of this caliber working with the Chapter is an incredible benefit for all the undergraduates. See separate articles for additional details on these individuals. MO GAMMA SCHOLARSHIP FUND We completed the paperwork to establish the MO Gamma Scholarship Fund with the Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation. The scholarships are to be given to the man or men who the selection committee, Alumni Board, and Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation deem to be most deserving based upon need, scholastic performance, contribution to the Chapter and impact on the fraternal spirit of the Chapter. Based upon the contributions to the fund, the intent is to award scholarships annually in an amount not to exceed 15% of the Chapter's charges for a member's annual room and board, which today would equate to approximately $1,200 scholarships. Based upon the current proceeds policy of the Educational Foundation, it will take approximately $27,000 to endow a scholarship. Contributions to the MO Gamma Scholarship Fund are tax deductible and can be made by check to Sigma Phi Epsilon Education Foundation, with memo "MO Gamma Scholarship Fund," and sent to MO Gamma Alumni Corporation, P.O. Box 411811, St. Louis, MO 63141-1811. Please also consider adding the MO Gamma Scholarship Fund to your estate plans. Contributing to this scholarship fund is a great way to support the Chapter on a long-term basis. If you are interested in this support opportunity and want more details, please feel free to contact me. ALUMNI EVENTS We do not have a long history of alumni activities, however, your board and Chapter have been working to change that over the last several years. There are two great opportunities this summer to participate in alumni events: the golf tournament, which occurred on June 13, and the alumni outing to Rockbridge Trout Fishing Resort in September. The golf tournament had a good showing and was a lot of fun. Based on response to date, we are canceling the Rockbridge event.
