MO Gamma Receives Top Greek GPA Brothers Strive for All-Around Excellence A nother successful semester has come to a close for the Missouri Gamma Chapter. The Chapter was extremely successful academically during the fall semester and has been building on that success throughout the spring semester. In the fall, the Missouri Gamma Chapter achieved a 3.197 GPA, the highest Greek GPA on campus. The new member GPA was 3.191, and four new members received a 4.0 GPA. Throughout the coming semesters, the Chapter will improve the Accelerator Program in hopes of furthering our outstanding academic performances. BROTHERS ATTEND LEADERSHIP CONFERENCES In February, 13 brothers took a trip to Oklahoma City to participate in the annual Carlson Leadership Academy. In Oklahoma, the Chapter received the award of Chapter House of the Year, and Casey Zimmerman '14 received the J. Edward Zollinger Outstanding Senior Award. In April, most of the freshman class attended EDGE, a new member education program, which took place in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. EDGE is designed to provide new members with the tools to overcome challenges in life and set a foundation for healthy living. During the summer, I will represent Missouri Gamma at the Frank J. Ruck Leadership Institute, a program focused on developing leaders and instilling the Balanced Man ideal. Scott Tucci '15 and I will be attending Conclave this summer, with some other members potentially joining us. INTRAMURAL SUCCESS Athletically, the brothers of Missouri Gamma finished third in the Missouri S&T intramural standings. The Chapter placed second in weightlifting and first in both bowling and track. During the track meet, Chance Alexander '15 won the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints, Dan Fling '15 won the high jump, and the 4x100 relay team finished first. The 4x100 team was Dan Fling, Chance Alexander, Zach Boswell '16, and J.P Mueller '18. PHILANTHROPIC EFFORTS The annual Out 'Til Midnight (previously known as Up 'Til Dawn) philanthropy was another successful event for Missouri Gamma. For the second year in a row, the Chapter raised the most money out of all participating organizations for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Of the nine awards distributed during the month long competition, the Chapter won eight. Some of the awards included top fundraising organization, top individual fundraiser (Scott Tucci '15), and top fundraising team. The only award offered that the Chapter did not win was the second place trophy. The Chapter raised $3,793, which is an average of $50 per member. NEW CHAPTER LEADERSHIP The MO Gamma Chapter is very excited to announce some new faculty and staff who will help the Chapter to excel even further. Kristi Schulte is our new Chapter advisor, taking over for Jimmy Taylor, who is retiring soon. Kristi works in the Residential Life Office and has already played a large role in the Chapter operations. She is a great source of knowledge and there is no doubt she will be a great aid for the Chapter's growth. Being very connected to campus, Kristi will be a big part in increasing SigEp's campus presence. The Chapter also has two new faculty fellows. Faculty fellows act as academic mentors for the Chapter. Missouri Gamma is very excited to have Ian Ferguson, dean of engineering, and Andreas Eckert, an associate professor in the geosciences, geological, and petroleum engineering department, further advance the Chapter in its academics. Fraternally yours, Sebastian Klesing '18 Chapter President sjkwf9@mst.edu (248) 495-0398 Members of Missouri Gamma volunteered at the St. James Humane Society with the women of Chi Omega.
