W hat a remarkable year for Alpha Chapter! We celebrated our 150th anniversary last April with the largest ever gathering of Alpha brothers in Troy, had our chapter house listed on the National Register of Historic Places, launched a capital campaign to substantially renovate 1490 Sage Avenue, hosted a national convention, which dedicated a second Theta Xi memorial on RPI's campus, received pledges and donations from you and your brothers to bring us a substantial way toward our fundrais- ing target, and are perched at the starting line ready to launch our first phase of renovations. The objectives we have been working toward for the past decade are just about in our grasp. This April, Alpha enjoyed our 151st anniversary at RPI. In addition to the traditional activities, this Founders' Day celebration included a number of memorable dedications. Matt Glaccum '92 (A1324) started by presenting two plaques from National, recognizing our sesqui- centennial and the induction of our eight found- ing fathers into Theta Xi's Order of the Unicorn. Rensselaer Alumni Association President Roger Mike made a few remarks honoring the extraordi- nary history of Theta Xi at RPI, and the strength of our chapter and alumni association. He joined a group of alumni and our active brothers to dedicate the newly constructed sign, which was donated to Alpha Chapter by our National orga- nization at the 150th anniversary convention last summer. Our chapter house at 1490 Sage Avenue now has a sign that suitably reflects the promi- nence of our fraternity at Rensselaer. The dedication was followed by a groundbreak- ing ceremony announcing that work was about to begin at our chapter house. We started phase 1 of our renovations on June 1. Your phenomenal response to our calls for pledges and donations and a tremendous effort by our alumni board, especially alumni Treasurer Brad Spencer '04 (A1517), along with successful negotiation of a ALPHA CHAPTER OF THETA XI SPRING 2015 ALPHABET (Continued on page 3) Active members and alumni gather around our new sign at 1490 Sage Ave. ALUMNI STEP UP, CAMPAIGN PROPELS FORWARD Alpha Chapter Recognized by Rensselaer Rensselaer Alumni Association President Roger Mike speaks to gathered alumni (pictured with Alpha Alumni Association President Chris "Norm" Baldauf '03 (A1487)).
