This amazing group comes to you directly from Nashville where much of today's Southern and Country Gospel sound originated. The Blackwood Legacy is led by 36-year Southern Gospel veteran, Rick Price, who spent much of his career with the Blackwood Brothers. Rick was privileged to have been mentored by the late Cecil Blackwood, and was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame with the legendary quartet. Realizing that "the road to the future is paved with memories of the past". Rick has surrounded himself by today's most talented musicians and singers. Joining him are contem- porary worship musicians, Luke Yates, an amazing piano player and vocalist, and tenor Daniel Childs, grandson to the late Cecil Blackwood. Be prepared for a time of music and ministry that will appeal to all ages. COMING SATURDAY JANUARY 14 6:00 PM ABUNDNT LIFE FELLOWSHIP 21080 LUTHER ROAD RED BLUFF, CA 96080 530.528.2499 I didn't pay attention to the notice in the mail announcing a 60 percent increase in our residential water rates. But my neighbor mentioned it, and I'm still steamed about it. How on earth can any- thing just increase by more than half? By the looks of things, we Cali- fornians are not the only ones find- ing water to be almost as precious as gold. A while back, USA Today reported that huge increases in water and sewer bills were on the way in many places, as cities and towns try to deal with their aging pipes and "artificially low prices." While we can't do much to change the rates, one way to keep a lid on out-of-control costs is to use less water. I'm the first to admit that I waste more water than I can possibly imagine. And that's about to stop. Florida-based American Water & Energy Savers has put together a list of 49 ways to save water. Here are my favorites: 1. Never put water down the drain when there may be another use for it, such as watering a plant or garden, or cleaning. Police reports The following informa- tion is compiled from Red Bluff Police Department, Tehama County Sheriff's Department, Corning Police Department and California Highway Patrol. Nothing further was available. • Georgiann Patricia Espinoza, 37, of Red Bluff was arrested Sunday morning at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital. Espinoza, also known as Georgiann Patricia Joseph and Georgi Joseph, was booked into jail on the felony charge of vandal- ism: damage property. Bail was set at $15,000. Sheriff's logs show Tehama County Mental Health on Friday evening reporting an out of control client. Someone was arrested and taken to St. Elizabeth. Nothing further was available. • Jim Edward Williams, 52, of Los Molinos was arrested Sunday morning on Highway 99E at Fox Street. He was booked on the charges of giving false information to a peace officer, false identification to a specific peace officer, driving on a suspended license, failure to appear on a felony, failure to appear: written promise, driving without a license, probation violation, DUI and transportation of a controlled substance. Bail was $81,500. • Danny McDowell, 38, of Gerber was arrested Meeting cut The Tehama County Local Childcare Planning Council meeting sched- uled for today has been canceled. Many homes have hidden water leaks. Here's how to test: Read your water meter before and after a two-hour period when no water is being used. If the meter does not read exactly the same, there is a leak. 3. Repair dripping faucets by replacing washers. If your faucet is dripping at the rate of one drop per second, you can expect to waste 2,700 gallons per year, which will add to the cost of water and sewer utilities, or strain your septic system. unnecessarily. Dispose of tissues, insects and other such waste in the trash rather than the toilet. 6. Take shorter showers. Replace your shower head with an ultra-low-flow version. Some units are available that allow you to cut off the flow without adjusting the water temperature knobs. Mary Hunt 4. Check for toilet tank leaks by adding food coloring to the tank. If the toilet is leak- ing, color will appear in the toilet bowl within 30 minutes. Check the toilet for worn out, corroded or bent parts. Most replacement parts are inexpensive, readily available and easily installed. (Flush as soon as the test is done, since food col- oring may stain the tank.) 5. Avoid flushing the toilet Saturday afternoon on Gerber Road, west of San Benito Avenue, during a traffic stop on a vehicle he was riding in. McDowell was arrested on a felony warrant for possession of a controlled substance. During a search of his person, McDowell was found in possession of marijuana and a glass methamphetamine pipe. An investigation revealed McDowell was transport- ing and possessing mari- juana for sale. No bail was set. Collision • The California High- way Patrol is looking for an unknown hit and run driver and vehicle from a collision at 8:12 p.m. Fri- day on Highway 36E, east of Sunriver Drive. Thomas Roger, 57, of Greenville was driving east on 36, about 55 mph, when he saw a vehicle approaching his 1999 Chevy Suburban, going west in the eastbound lane. Both Roger and the other driver swerved into the westbound lane in an attempt to avoid a colli- sion, sideswiping instead. The other party fled the scene without making con- tact with Roger. Put the stopper in the drain before turning on the water. The initial burst of cold water will be warmed by adding hot water. 8. Don't let water run while shaving or washing your face. Brush your teeth first while waiting for water to get hot, and then wash or shave after filling the basin. 9. Store drinking water in the refrigerator rather than letting the tap run every time you want a cool glass of water.
