CHI PSI • UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON • SPRING 2015 A T h e r e T ê Building on a Tradition of Excellence Campaign Status At-a-Glance As of April 22, 2015 $1.2 Million Goal $1,046,370 Total Commitments 130 Contributors 747 Active Alumni $500,000 $250,000 $1.2 Million $1,046,370 $750,000 PROGRESS CONTINUES IN CHI PSI CAMPAIGN Your Help Is Needed to Complete This Project as Envisioned W e have some exciting news to share with you! Thanks to the support of more than 125 alumni, we have raised $1,046,370 for our new annex, surpassing our original campaign goal of $1 million. This is great news, but we can't stop here! We are very close to breaking ground on our new annex, but must continue with our fundraising efforts to ensure we create the best facility possible for our future brothers. The campaign committee has carefully examined our costs and progress to date to determine a revised goal of $1.2 million for the Building on a Tradition of Excellence campaign. This amount is needed to help pay for increased construction costs and to help offset the debt on our new home. In order to place our chapter in the best financial position possible, it is essential we reduce our debt and not leave this burden upon the shoulders of our undergraduate members. Once our annex is complete, we will have a premier, state-of-the-art facility that we can all be proud of. But we need your help to make it happen. Just as the new annex is vital, it is also important we have the support of every alumnus to reach our revised campaign goal. A current list of contributors can be found on page 2. Add your name to this list of many men, representing every generation, who have already made their own commitments to this important project. Pledge payments can be spread over five years, making it more manageable to give. You can also take advantage of our online giving option at www.chipsi. kintera.org/campaign. The permit review is expected to take a couple of months, followed by a response to any questions or corrections from the City. We are on schedule for construction beginning this summer. A general contractor has been selected and is putting construction costs together. They feel that construction time will be in the neighborhood of nine to 12 months, therefore putting the completion during the summer of 2016, in time for occupancy for the fall quarter. The building design has been revised to meet the City's new zoning requirements. The building has less area, but retains the original goal of 15 rooms. The design team has worked hard to retain as much of the sport court as possible. This design also orients the majority of the student rooms toward the court and locates common areas on the ground floor so they open to the court. The design also puts substantial effort into enhancements of the property on the north side of the Lodge, including handicapped accessibility, an enclosure for the various trash containers, and landscaping—all city requirements. We look forward to groundbreaking this summer.
