I reflect on how each season brings the same expected weather and how these changes in weather bring hopeful expectations. This spring is busy for the Alpha Delta House Corporation Board and bringing lots of changes. The chapter executive board has changed and new officers are busy improving on the leadership skills they learned at the leadership conference in Dallas. This year Gamma Phi Beta held the HCB conference and the leadership conference at the same time in Dallas. Cindy Gates Wood '77 from our board attended the conference representing Alpha Delta. We were just notified that we won the contest for best front door of the GFB chapters in the country. Way to go Alpha Delta HCB! HCB UPDATES HOUSE SECURITY Speaking of front doors, we updated our security at the house during spring break. Security has always been a priority of the HCB. During the break we began installing security cameras outside the house and in strategic places inside at the request of our members. We were happy that we could do this to increase the security at the house. We are ordering a new front door with a state-of-the-art security system. No more codes to get in the house. We will use cards to enter from now on. It's a new world at Alpha Delta. It's so exciting to be part of these changes. SUMMER UPDATES PLANNED One of our scheduled summer projects is to install new brick front steps, thanks to our decorator Carol Michener Temple '70 and Kevin Holman with Holman Construction. The front of the house will be out of commission from May until beginning of July. Carol, with Pizazz Interiors, is also updating the living room. We hope to have some new pieces of furniture to show off during recruitment. If you are in Columbia, be sure to stop by and see the new additions to the house. THANK YOU, MOM KIM We decided it's time to highlight the one person who has been responsible for keeping the house running. We all know how much we loved our housemoms while in school. Kim Berry has been one of the best hires in recent years. She has been such a dedicated and loving housemom to the girls over the years. Many thanks and pink carnations to Mom Kim. She seems to find a way each day to bless Alpha Delta with her loving acts. If you are at the house please introduce yourself to her and be sure to look for that special sparkle in her eye when she talks about her girls, although no one can take the place of her grandchildren. You can read more about Mom Kim on page 2. ONLINE HILITES HCB is in talks to make this newsletter digital. I will have more information in the fall edition about this change. It is getting very expensive to keep mailing to all alumnae, so I hope you will consider giving us your e-mail address so we can begin sending our newsletter electronically. If you would like to receive the newsletter via e-mail, please send me your contact information at christyehren@gmail.com. I am so thankful for all our alumnae who help with advising positions and serving Alpha Delta in so many ways. It definitely takes a solar system to keep all the Alpha Delta stars shining. Also, be sure to read about some special alumnae in this issue and what's happening in their world. Sarah Bunce Kohnle '76 was in school with me and I am so excited for her new book being offered online. I know there are alumnae out there who have news to share. We would love to include your information in our Crescent Corner. Please send me any new or updates and I'll be sure to include them in future issues. We started with the Regional Leadership Conference, we participated in RAMS (Rocking Against Multiple Sclerosis), and had a successful Greek Week in April. It's been a busy semester, but we have enjoyed every minute. OFFICERS ENJOY RLC The executive board is very excited to announce that we were able to attend the Regional Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas, in January with chapter Advisor Jenn Wood, St. Louis University '08. It was a wonderful experience for all of us. We brought back a lot of great ideas and are working to implement and execute
