them while we serve on the board. A gracious alumna donated enough money to make it possible for the entire executive board and their departments to attend a ropes course which encourages team building. We are so thankful for this donation. BEST GFB FRONT DOOR IN THE COUNTRY This spring we were notified that Alpha Delta won the contest for the best front door of all Gamma Phi Beta chapters in the country. We updated our security at the house during spring break, and ordered a new front door with a state-of-the-art security system. No more codes to get into the house; we will use cards to enter from now on. PARTICIPATE IN RAMS RAMS has been part of Mizzou for a few years now, and this was the first year for Gamma Phi Beta to fully participate. We donated $150 to the organization and performed in the dance contest. Although we did not advance to the final round, we did make an impression to the rest of Greek life for our enthusiasm and participation. CHAPTER BONDING We held a sisterhood lock-in retreat this semester at the house. All classes got together and ate pizza and desserts while watching a movie. After the movie, we all participated in fireside, starting with our name and our grade, followed by what Gamma Phi Beta means to us. After we finished we spent the rest of the night telling stories about living in the house and spending time with our sisters. Please stop by Alpha Delta anytime. We are always more than happy to welcome our amazing alumnae at the 808! A Day in the Life House Director Mom Kim Keeps Alpha Delta Up and Running I was hesitant to respond when asked to write this article. I feel so lucky to have found this house and its members. Every year I get to greet 91 "daughters" who live in the facility. I thought the best way to explain what I do would be to go through my typical day (which really no day is typical with 91 women living under one roof!). My day usually begins around 8 a.m. with a text message from a member asking a question about some part of the house. Then it's up and checking on breakfast staff. Did I mention we have a wonderful head chef, Sara, who keeps things running smoothly in the kitchen and dining room? It seems each day brings a new delivery or service person to talk with. We have so many people taking good care of your house. Then it's off to the store to buy something for the cleaning staff or some special event. I manage to find time to see my grandchildren, Hudson and Kaya, either by picking them up at school and taking them home or letting them do their favorite thing—visiting the house and their new 91 friends! The evening is filled with women visiting my apartment with stories of their day. My door is always open and I welcome anyone who wants to visit. If you are in town be sure to let me know by calling (573) 529-9657, and stop by for a visit. The photo above is of my grandchildren who had just finished painting their picnic bench last summer. When they posed they said, "Let's pose like the sorority girls!" I look forward to meeting and greeting all alumnae who visit our lovely home. Your House Director, Mom Kim Sarah Bunce Kohnle '76 authored her first novel, Shifting Gears. She conducted first-hand research while bicycling on roads across Kansas and Idaho and on bicycle trails in Illinois and Missouri. Sarah is working on another story and teaching Basic News Writing at the University of Missouri. "It's pretty cool to teach a course I once took, and in the same spot!" Sarah and her husband live in Columbia, Mo., and have two sons. E-mail: skohnle@msta.org Dana Roberts Knapp '85 brought her daughter, Elizabeth, who is currently a high school senior, to tour Mizzou last summer and visited 808 Richmond. "We were graciously welcomed by Mom Kim and a couple of the actives, including former President Sami Peterson '12. It was exciting to see the old composites and show my daughter all of the rooms that I lived in. I was so impressed with these young ladies. Thanks for your hospitality!" Dana and her husband, Craig, live in Paradise Valley, Ariz. In addition to Elizabeth, they have a son, Andrew. E-mail: roberts@krattorneys.com C r esce nt Cor n er
