3 S abrina Kelley '14 told her Alabama Beta sisters that she always dreamed of being in a sorority. Following recruitment, she knew that Pi Phi would be her forever home. After a lengthy battle with cystic fibrosis, Sabrina has passed away and become a forever angel, leaving a remarkable impact on her family and Alabama Beta sisters. Within Pi Phi, Sabrina took on the role of assistant to Erica Boden '13, vice president of communication, which was a wonderful honor as a sophomore. She was dedicated to her responsibilities within this position; her sisters remember her for being hard working, smart, genuine, sweet, and absolutely hilarious. "Sabrina's smile could light up a room," Erica said. "She had every reason to complain if she wanted to, but she never did." Sabrina's big, Samantha Busch '13, recalls several moments where Sabrina would think of others before herself. The ladies of Alabama Beta had to wait outside prior to an event in the fall. "We were all freezing cold and Sabrina's only outerwear was a tiny shawl. Instead of complaining, Sabrina offered her shawl to several of her sisters. I realized then that Sabrina truly cared about those around her and I will never forget her kind spirit," Samantha said. "Sabrina cared about many things, but the most important to her were her family and friends. Never in my life have I met someone who cared so deeply about those around her the way Sabrina did," Samantha explained. Sabrina's loving parents, Brian and Pam, and brother, Matty, will forever be inspired by Sabrina's spirit. She is dearly missed by her loved ones and the Alabama Beta community. S uzanne Jetton Wright '81 passed away on April 2 after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer about one year ago. Suzanne's Alabama Beta sister and roommate, Kelly Allen Bass '81, described Suzanne as being a mentor and a friend to many people. "Suzanne gave of her time and energy to help others whether volunteering at her church or listening when someone needed advice or a friend. This made her a wonderful wife, mother, friend, and Pi Phi sister," Kelly said. As a Pi Phi member, Suzanne participated as house manager and sang the lead parts in the chapter skits, South Pacific and Mary Poppins. Her pledge sisters remember sharing activities like formals, trips to the beach, and late-night pizza with Suzanne. "She had a wonderful loud belly laugh and a beautiful smile," Kelly shared. Suzanne couldn't have been more proud of her daughter, Casey, who found her sorority experience as meaningful as Suzanne's experience at Alabama. A group of Suzanne's Pi Phi sisters remained very close to her, as friendships were the most meaningful part of her experience at Alabama Beta. "We have a group of us that get together and we called Suzanne our social director because she was the one who kept us all close," Barbara Phillips Taylor '81 explained. After college, Suzanne resided in the Birmingham area and worked for Luckie Advertising as an associate media director. She led several programs within her church, the Pell City First United Methodist Church, which she was extremely dedicated to. Suzanne and her husband, Paul, had an amazingly close and loving relationship with one another and their three daughters, Casey, Anna Kate, and Abigail. "She advocated for family always coming "Sabrina will forever be my hero. Although our time together was short, I am so lucky that she will forever be my little. Sabrina's light will never go out and her spirit will continue to influence and encourage those she was close to." - Samantha Busch '13 AlAbAmA betA mourns the loss of A true Angel "Truthfully, I can never put into words the kind of person Sabrina was and will never be able to convey the way she profoundly impacted hundreds of people around her. She was purely and truly remarkable." - Erica Boden '13 suzAnne Jetton Wright '81 leAves A legAcy of generosity (Continued on Page 4) "Suzanne has always been a leader and that is probably why she made such an impact within her career and her church. She has left some big shoes to fill at work and at church, but has left an even bigger hole to fill in the hearts of those who had the honor of being her friend." - Barbara Phillips Taylor '81
