Every single weekend of spring has been filled with Pi Phi activities and I'm grateful that our sisterhood made philanthropy a priority. Our philanthropic efforts continue to support several organizations that promote literacy. We hit the semester running with our ongoing Friday trips to Holt Elementary where we read to third graders. It is truly wonderful to see how the kids light up when we walk down the halls in our wine-colored spirit jerseys. We were also given the chance to compete with 17 other sororities for a chance to win $1,000 toward our philanthropy and a barbecue hosted by Full Moon. After a long week of getting everyone we know and every chapter across the nation to vote for us, I am excited to say that we won by a landslide! Thank you so much to those who helped vote for us in the process; we could not have done it without your help. By the time parents weekend rolled around, our ladies were in full philanthropy mode. We hosted our first 5k event on campus. We had over 200 people come out and run and I cannot wait to see how the event will grow over the years. It has been a rewarding semester, but we could not have done it without all of the love and support from family, friends, and our Pi Phi sisters. Thank y'all for everything you do! Yours in Pi Phi, Ashley Robbins '12 Vice President Philanthropy SPRING RECRUITMENT UPDATE A labama Betas have been participating in spring recruitment throughout the semester. We have held dinners and ice cream socials with the potential new members (PNMs). These more casual settings have allowed us to really get to know the PNMs. We have recruitment workshops with our freshmen so they learn how to be effective recruiters. These workshops have been going incredibly well! Our freshmen can't wait to join the rest of the chapter in hosting formal recruitment, August 7-15. All RIFs should be mailed to the chapter by July 15 at: Pi Beta Phi, Attn: Emily Wilson, P.O. Box 11067, Tuscaloosa, AL 35486.
