OF ALABAMA BETA The Alabama Arrow Pi Beta Phi at The University of Alabama • Spring 2015 H appy spring, everyone. The House Corporation has been very busy reorganizing and we will soon be fully staffed and running at full speed. Meanwhile, I am happy to report to you that we recently met with university representatives to discuss the possibilities for a house expansion. Applications for building or remodeling will become available this fall. We are currently searching for an architectural firm to develop a creative design for our current lot so we can make the best decision possible for the future of Alabama Beta. We look forward to very exciting days ahead. It will be an extremely busy time, so your help will be needed and much appreciated to successfully complete our mission. If you are interested in volunteering for Chapter House Corporation, please let me know via e-mail. Members of the 2012, 2013, and 2014 pledge classes gather at the spring viewing party. T he past semester has been a great one for the sisters of Alabama Beta and we are so excited to share all of our accomplishments. We began the semester with new executive council leadership, who welcomed our regional advisors to Tuscaloosa to help guide our chapter into the new year. Our members have made great strides in academic endeavors and have earned membership to clubs and honor societies across campus. We have participated fully in all philanthropic and leadership opportunities within Panhellenic, and we have fostered some great friendships along the way! Academic Accolades Our members earned a GPA of 3.32 for the fall semester. This grade point average is significantly higher than the all-women's average of 3.19, and higher than the all-sorority average of 3.26. This ranks us as 8th of the 18 Panhellenic chapters. We expect this race for the number one ranking to get even closer over the coming semesters. Vice President of Member Development Joy Davis '12 uses tutors and study hours to help support our members in achieving academic success. Joy notes, "The Alabama Beta Chapter of Pi Phi has continually placed a strong emphasis on the value of personal and intellectual growth. We strive to develop women of strong intellect who will set the bar high not only within our Greek community, but within the entire nation." Thank You, Parents and Alumnae, for Your Support Pi Phi hosted family weekend on February 27 and 28. We were so thrilled to show parents the Pi Beta Phi mansion and to host a cocktail party at the Cypress Inn Pavilion. We are incredibly grateful for all of the parents and siblings who came, as well as the support we receive from our parents throughout the year. We thank our alumnae, our advisors, and the University of Alabama for supporting our chapter each year, and we hope that we can continue to count on your support. We invite alumnae and friends to come by the Pi Beta Phi house anytime; we would love to have you! Our sisterhood is growing in size and strength, and we look forward to the accomplishments and friendships that will be made in the coming years.
