THE LAMBDA LETTER SPRING 2015 ALUMNI NEWSLETTER OF THE LAMBDA CHAPTER OF SIGMA CHI T he 2014-15 school year is winding down. The Chapter House has been near full occupancy and Cheryl Pate continues to do an outstanding job as house director during the school year with daily operations. The Chapter House had some mechanical issues in the beginning of the year. The hot water system failed and we had to install a new system. We also elected to install a new boiler system that has a larger capacity and a longer projected life. It can also serve as a back-up heating boiler if we ever have a heating failure. Then in mid-March we had a fire alarm system failure resulting in the need to hire fire security personnel to staff the house 24 hours per day until we were able to replace the system. These were critical and expensive repairs but were necessary to ensure that we are providing safe housing for our members. Lambda Corporation also completed repairs and updates to our patio area. Old shrubs were removed and new benches were installed resulting in a much cleaner appearance to that area of the property. Campus Cooks continues to offer quality food service to the active brothers living in the house. However, the members have requested that we look at other competitive food providers and we are studying and acting on that request. We remain the only fraternity on campus that still has a sit-down evening meal Monday through Thursday. We will be selecting a new live-in undergraduate advisor this spring. Luke Harris '12 filled the position this year and did a good job. We have found this to be a good positon for a past consul. It helps with communication and allows him to advise the undergraduate leadership. When you are in Bloomington, I encourage you to stop by the Chapter House. I think you will be amazed at the condition of the house and the work Cheryl does to keep it in good shape.
