Indiana Delta Chapter A Diverse Group of Honorable Men Jake Jackson '81 Appreciative of SAE Experience A s Jake Jackson '81 reflects on his under- graduate experience, one of the first things to come to mind is the brothers of Indiana Delta. The chapter house served as the founda- tion for some of his greatest memories at DePauw and helped foster many lasting friendships. "The majority of my college experience ended up being the fellowship of the brothers in the house," Jake said. "It is the times and memories, which we expe- rienced, which make our current friendships and our paths in the world an easier one to take." The differing backgrounds and personali- ties of the brothers are what originally drew Jake to SAE. When he realized the mem- bers held similar values, he knew the frater- nity was an organization he wanted to join. "The diversity of membership is why I decided to join SAE. There was no cut-and- dried formula to the personality that any new member needed to fit in to other than the traditional values of the fraternity," Jake said. Those values were evident as Jake and his class went through pledgeship and resided in the chapter house. During this time, he served in a few leadership roles, including eminent chroni- cler and secretary. After earning a degree in political science, Jake became the owner of Ivanhoe Group, which refurbishes, services, and resells new and used barcoding equipment. He advises brothers who also want to open a small busi- ness to ignore those who say you can't and to ask a lot of questions. During his free time, Jake and his wife, Karen, enjoy doing interior work on their house and spending time on the back porch with their neighbors. The couple resides in Peachtree City, Georgia.
