F CUSOn City Partners in Recycling Contests To increase awareness of recycling, the City of Fayetteville, Fayetteville Beautiful and Sustainable Sandhills are sponsoring two contests that will run until Dec. 16. Residents of multi-family units inside the Fayetteville city limits and that have recycling 25 small recycling bins to give to fellow residents of their choosing in the complex. Multi-family units are having more than seven units, including apartments, townhomes, condominiums and mobile home parks. Submit entries by Nov. 30. The second contest is open to any city resident. Community Development The City of Fayetteville Community Development Proposals (RFP) for 2012 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and 2012 HOME Investment Partnership Funding. The Community Development Department will receive CDBG funds and HOME funds better quality of life. A portion of these funds will be services in the categories listed here: Housing Activities: The purpose of this activity is to provide funding for activities such as housing rehabilitation and new housing construction projects designed to increase the supply of affordable single and multi-family housing for low to moderate income residents in the city of Fayetteville. Community Development Activities: Provide job skills training workshops; job counseling, household workshops. Economic Development Activities: Provide technical entrepreneurs. Program Location: All programs must be carried out inside the city limits of Fayetteville. Eligible applicants for each of the activities include in submitting a proposal for consideration may pick up an application packet from the Community Development Department, City Hall, 433 Hay Street, Room 320 on or after Nov. 30, 2011. The deadline for receipt of applications is Feb. 3, 2012. For additional information, please contact the Community Development Department at (910) 433-1590. 20 11 Recreation Centers Open for Rentals Christmas Eve For families needing a little extra room for holiday reunions or get-togethers, Fayetteville- Cumberland Parks & Recreation is opening recreation centers for rental on Christmas Eve, Saturday, Dec. 24. Game rooms and gyms will experiencing cabin fever. Operating hours will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at all locations. Cliffdale, College Lakes, Kiwanis, Smith, and Westover recreation centers have large and small room rentals available. The large room can accommodate up to 250 people. Facilities are also equipped with kitchens; Kiwanis and Smith provide catering services. The gymnasium in each facility may be rented also. Call Cliffdale at 433-1127, College Lakes at 433-1564, Kiwanis at 433-1568, Smith at 433-1571, or Westover at 433-1088 to inquire about renting. Gray's Creek, Lake Rim, Pine Forest, Stedman, and Stoney Point recreation centers each have a large room that accommodates up to 100 people. Each has a full kitchen. Myers Recreation Center on Rochester Avenue has room rentals, a gymnasium, and a kitchen.
