Roy '07 *Donors to the fall 2014 appeal W e would like to give a big thank-you to the generous alumni listed below who donated to the T. Boone Pickens scholarship challenge campaign to benefit the members of Gamma Lambda. We also want to thank all the alumni who quickly and passionately responded to the request for $5,000 from the recruitment chairman to help supplement funds for summer recruitment needs. Larry Maguire '65 remembers the morning he received the e-mail, "I clicked 'reply all' asking brothers to step up and help with this small request knowing that recruiting is part of the life-blood of our fraternity." Within minutes brothers and leaders from all generations responded to the call with generous donations and heart-felt comments about the impact Beta had on their lives. The successes and achievement of the Gamma Lambda Chapter are directly attributed to the support and involvement of its members. The active brothers are grateful for and proud of the support they receive from their alumni. If an error has been made in recording the amount of your gift, or if we have mistakenly omitted your name, we sincerely apologize. Please send any corrections to our campaign coordinator at (785) 843-1661. CHAPTER ADVISORS TAKE A MORE ACTIVE ROLE A s many of you know, Gamma Lambda won first place in academics for its third straight semester, we walk away with the all-sports trophy every year, and generally place high in the other activities we participate in. Nationally, Beta is first in grades and now the third largest fraternity in the United States and Canada. Our General Fraternity president has another initiative in progress to help sustain our position among fraternities, as well as become stronger. If you reflect over the years, you probably realize our chapter advisors' involvement has been very limited throughout the Beta nation. Well, the regional consultants from the General Fraternity are now working with active officers in all chapters around the country to put advisors in place to work closely with each chapter. Their role will be to train, guide, and consult the active members and attend chapter meetings periodically. Bob Schnese, the General Fraternity president, believes this will strengthen our chapters with stronger governance and overall leadership. You will see a number of new names in the column on the Building Corporation and Advisors on page 4. These brothers have made the commitment to work diligently with us to assist as needed. If any alumni feel the need to contact advisors, please do so at their listed e-mail addresses. We want Gamma Lambda to be the best it can be.
