In hoc, Whit Culver '01 President, Gamma Delta House Corporation Board whit_culver@ml.com G amma Delta gave Justin W. Bell '00 four years to chart a course for his life. It provided an opportunity to meet lifelong friends and prepare him to start his career and family life. "My time with Sigma Chi at OSU helped prepare me for life after college in three main ways. The first was by learning how to handle a large amount of responsibility, balancing classwork, Fraternity leadership, and social responsibility. The second was learning how to work with people from very diverse backgrounds and different personalities. Lastly, I met a great group of guys that remain my close friends and a group that I can always count on if I ever need help," shared Justin. While he was an undergraduate, Justin served as pledge class president, magister, vice president, and recruitment chairman. His first job out of college was with the consulting firm Luminant Worldwide. "Luminant had a great set of clients and very talented employees, but suffered from financial and operational issues that resulted in Luminant being acquired by Lante. While at Luminant and Lante, one of my clients was American Airlines. I eventually went to work for American Airlines in the customer technology group. In 2004, I was referred by a friend to a small company called Credera (at the time about 10 employees). I have worked there for the last 11 years and am now a vice president and partner." The three things that he enjoys about his role are coaching and mentoring employees, working through the early stages of an opportunity to help a new client, which is both fun and challenging, and he loves coming back to OSU and recruiting. Justin advises undergraduates to work hard but have fun while they do it. "Do what you say you are going to do, look for little opportunities to do extra, and stay in touch with the people you've worked with in the past. If you do those things consistently, you'll have a great reputation and strong professional network of people that trust and like you." Justin keeps in touch with many brothers and the Chapter and encourages other alumni to do the same. "I think the real power of a Fraternity is not just what it provides to you while you are on campus, but after you leave campus the network of people. Alumni getting involved on campus with the Chapter is a great way to expand that network and bridge the gap from campus to alumnus." Sigma Chi Provided Justin W.
