SIGMA CHI FRATERNITY • OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY • SPRING 2015 Inside • Thank You, Annual Donors ~ p. 2 • Alumnus Spotlight ~ p. 2 • Significant Sigs ~ p. 3 The Sig Scroll Gamma Delta Announces $200,000 Scholarship Match Program W ith the ever-increasing cost of a college education, it is becoming more difficult for students to attend college. In 2010, Oklahoma State University announced a campaign to raise $1 billion and committed $500 million to enhance scholarships. T. Boone Pickens challenged each of us by creating the Pickens Legacy Scholarship Match and committed $100 million as a challenge grant. This challenge has the ability to change the future by reducing the cost of a college education for generations. OSU Sigma Chis have accepted T. Boone's challenge. We have until March 1, 2016, to fund a scholarship endowment that will match 1.5:1 once Boone's estate settles. This represents a great opportunity to provide meaningful support to brothers in the Chapter who are achieving at a high level and need financial assistance. Our goal is to raise $200,000, which will then turn into a $500,000 endowment once the match is made. We are well on our way, as we've already received a $50,000 lead gift. This fund can make a difference in families' lives by making the escalating cost of college more affordable. Your gifts will help ensure the success of Gamma Delta for generations to come. A nother school year is quickly coming to a close at Oklahoma State, and the Gamma Delta Chapter has another solid year in the books. Another great pledge class was initiated over the winter, and the initiation ceremony went very well thanks to Chapter Advisor Dr. Ed Shaw and the undergraduates. The Chapter's fall grades were once again above a 3.0 GPA, and we had a great showing for Homecoming. HELP AWARD WORTHY GAMMA DELTA MEMBERS Financially, the Chapter and House Corporation are as healthy as they have been in years. Thanks to savings in our own budget, as well as contributions over the last year from many of our alumni, we are aggressively paying down our debt from the recent remodeling project. The House Corporation is now returning its focus to the advancement of our undergraduate members. This year, we will focus on raising money to leverage the Pickens Legacy Scholarship Match program through the Oklahoma State University Foundation.
