SALISBURY HIGH SCHOOL Four teachers were re- cently awarded mini grants for classroom supplies through a partnership with Mount Lassen Division 9 of California Retired Teach- ers Association and the Te- hama County Department of Education. Each teacher received $100 and the staff chose to collaborate and combine the money to purchase materials for two different classes. The Culinary Arts class is in high demand by stu- dents and it was in need of some new cookware. New knives, frying pans and cutting boards were purchased with a portion of this mini- grant. In addition, since Salis- bury High School does not have an indoor physi- cal education facility, staff is always looking for new classes to offer outside. Six new horseshoe kits were purchased with the re- maining money so students can learn the rules of this fun game and come to en- joy this lifelong physical ac- tivity. Staff receives mini grants COURTESY PHOTO Lincoln Street School students participated in Read Across America during their weekly clubs. Young students partnered with older students to read Dr. Seuss books. Students also listened to a reading of Seuss' "Oh The Place's You'll Go" and then looked at all the places they want to go in their future. Third and fourth grade students used the Tehama County Department of Education's Makerspace Studio to record themselves reading from their favorite Dr. Seuss books in front of a green screen and then used editing so ware to put images from their books into the background of their video.
