page 5 alpha chi omega A s the winter months diminish and the women of Xi Chapter gear up for another semester at UNL, the executive officers and I are excited to encounter all that this new year has to offer. 2015 will bring many positive changes for our chapter, including a new and improved fall philanthropy, an increasing cumulative chapter GPA, a newly renovated dining room (thank you, House Corporation Board!), Dad's day, Greek Week, Intune, and a full calendar of sisterhood and chapter activities. Academic Excellence Our chapter GPA has been improving steadily throughout the past few years, boosting our academic ranking within the Greek community and helping with recruitment retention rates. At our academic recognition ceremony last semester, women received honors for earning a 4.0 or 3.75 grade point average. We also recognized women with the most improved GPA. These sisters were honored with an Alpha Chi honors t-shirt. The ceremony was hosted by the Xi Educational Corporation and former Vice President of Intellectual Development Kylie Beck '13. Our current vice president of intellectual development, Danielle Proskovec '13, plans to reorganize the test file system, as well as implement grade progress checks in order for women to continue good study habits and reach grade goals each semester. Philanthropic Endeavors We hosted two major philanthropic events in the fall, as well as three minor events, all supporting the Friendship Home. Our annual spring philanthropy, Raising the Roof, raised $7,580 and our Chips and Dip philanthropy raised $5,728. Last semester we were lucky enough to host Walk-a-Mile in Her Shoes for the second time on UNL's campus. This event brought together men and women to walk a mile around campus in red high heels, to raise awareness for domestic violence on campus and in the community. Xi Chapter also participated in The Friendship Home's annual local fundraising event, Safe Quarters, where Alpha Chi Omega donated more than $700. Building Leaders We are excited to commence the 2015 school year with a trip to Indianapolis for Alpha Chi Omega's annual Leadership Academy. Vice President of Philanthropy Molly Matt '13, Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing Lynsey Erickson '13, and I will bring ideas and goal setting knowledge back to Nebraska, that will help Xi Chapter reach even greater heights. In February, alumna Alessia Satterfield '10 hosted an Alpha Chi National workshop presentation, Intune, to help Xi Chapter with personal growth and chapter goal setting. We have so many programming, philanthropic, academic, and sisterhood opportunities planned for 2015 that we are excited to implement. Alpha Chis will be seeking even bigger heights in 2015 than ever!
