page 6 The lyre letter Xi Chapter Prepares Senior Class Hanna Beck '11 plans to teach high school math after graduation and spend much time with ACW sisters "reliving our glory days!" Laura Brooks '11 will be attending graduate school to earn her master's degree in social work so she can eventually teach preventative curriculum on partner violence in grades 6-12. "ACW showed me The Friendship Home and made it my passion," she says. Markie Coffey '11 sees herself five years down the road, settled with a job she is passionate about and family she loves. Meggie Coffey '12 says, "ACW has opened many doors for me, including internship and job opportunities. It has granted me with many new friends and leadership opportunities. It has also helped me transform into the woman I am today." After graduation she plans to go through the MT program with Buckle Inc., and open her own store. Jessica Elafros '11 will be studying abroad in New Zealand to earn her last few credits before graduating, and has plans to travel the world and visit family overseas. She hopes to obtain a career outside the U.S. that makes her excited to wake up each morning. Payton Gaines '11 is on the search for a career in the medical field. She sees her future self married and with a steady job practicing medicine. Sally Hamnett '11 expanded her interests because of girls in ACW and worked closely with the No-Kill Advocacy Club, which was started by an ACW member. She discovered her interest in non-profit organizations, specifically animal rescuers, and hopes to work with a non-profit organization on the public relations side after graduation. Lauren Ibach '11 is eager to move to a rural community, teaching agricultural education and staying involved in Alpha Chi in any way she can. Julia Jackson '11 is on the job search and, while her career plans are still uncertain, she is optimistic that she will love what she's doing with sisters by her side. Melanie Kerr '11 is working on being a registered dietitian and getting accepted to a year-long, out-of-state internship at Baylor Medical Center in Texas or New York Presbyterian Hospital. She says, five years from now, "I hope to be a registered dietitian and licensed medical nutrition therapist, employed at a hospital treating pediatric patients." Cassie Kirkpatrick '11 credits Alpha Chi for helping her choose her career path as an elementary school teacher. Cassie is on the job search now and beams with excitement as she gets closer to working with children in a school she loves. Kathleen Knobbe '11 will be trying out for professional dance teams while searching for a job in a city that she loves. Alpha Chi set her up for success by providing access to resources she needed to do well in school. Lauren Lentz '11 would like to pursue her current internship as a more permanent career option. She's grateful for her Alpha Chi connections as they helped her meet girls with her major, coordinate class schedules, and study together. Kalin Lueth '11 is looking into moving to Kansas City or Omaha to pursue a career in human resources in the hospitality industry. "I have no idea where I will be in five years. My career field allows me to travel all over the world so I'll go wherever the wind takes me," she says. "Where I'll be is anyone's guess!" Liz Maloley '11 will be attending graduate school to receive her master's degree in business administration while working at the advertising firm KidGlov 2. After obtaining her master's degree, she hopes to uproot to a new city. Kaylee McCuen '11 sees the future version of herself loving life and the career she chooses, and while she's not sure what that might be, Alpha Chis will certainly be by her side. Maddie McKenzie '11 will obtain her master's degree in marine biology/conservation then earn her Ph.D., so she can fulfill her dream of living by the ocean, hopefully the Great Barrier Reef, saving the lives of marine animals. Sami Merchant '11 is working toward a degree in nursing. When she graduates in 2016, she hopes to have an RN job lined up and a family on the horizon. Leah Miller '11 is on the job search for a teaching position in a middle or high school, where she also hopes to be a head volleyball coach. "ACW helped me grow as a person and as a leader. I am fortunate to have had many unique and amazing experiences with ACW that made my time at UNL better than I could have ever imagined." Amy Mingus '11 is eager to begin working as an elementary school teacher. She is confident she will fall in love with her new school and students she has the privilege to teach. Allie Nebbia '11 is a tax intern at Deloitte in downtown Omaha. Following her internship she will begin the MPA program at UNL. She's thankful for Alpha Chi because it helped diversify her college career. Haley Peitzmeier '11 has plans to move to a bigger city to become a marketing specialist at an agency or larger firm. She also plans on continuing her dance career by being part of a team, teacher, or coach. "I see myself excelling at my job—I'm up for the challenge!" Katie Powell '11 will start graduate school in the fall and will continue her internship. She says ACW helped her bond with women
