The Associated Press VENTURA Police are ask- ing for the public's help in identifying three people seen in surveillance foot- age recorded near where a homeless man was set on fire while sleeping on a Ventura beach. The Ventura County Star reports Friday that inves- tigators say the two males and one female in the video are not suspects. They are seen walking in the area at the time of the incident and police say they might have information. Saturday's attack left 58-year-old John Frazier with second- and third-de- gree burns to his face and torso. He is expected to survive. Frazier told police he was asleep in a sleeping bag and awakened to see three men in their late teens or early 20s pouring lighter fluid on him and his backpack and setting the fire. Police have found blades in the grass at Bonita Cove Park six times since August 2013 and believe the inci- dents are related. U-T San Diego reports six blades were found Sunday, and one was found Monday. Last April a mother re- ported her two barefoot sons, ages 7 and 15, stepped on razor blades and cut their feet. In September, at least two blades were found about 10 feet from a playground. The sharp edges were sticking upright out of the grass. $2,000 More razor blades found at park; reward offered The Associated Press SAN FRANCISCO The Cali- fornia Highway Patrol has stepped up enforcement of speed limits on the Golden Gate Bridge because mo- torists are driving faster following the installation of a safety barrier de- signed to reduce head-on crashes. The San Francisco Chronicle reported enforce- ment has increased on the Waldo Grade as well as on the bridge and at the toll plaza. Golden Gate Bridge spokeswoman Priya Da- vid Clemens said the av- erage speed of drivers on the bridge approach from the north has jumped even though the speed limit was lowered from 55 to 45 mph. Two weeks ago, the bridge was closed to motor- ists for a weekend to install the barrier. Previously, only yellow plastic tubes offered protection from opposing traffic. Clemens said one car on Thursday was tracked go- ing 81 mph. Others sped through the toll booths at 50 mph. The rain will follow snow along the mid-Atlantic and southern New England coasts and can mix in farther west for a time farther inland. The storm will still deliver the greatest snowfall of the season so far to parts of the central Appalachians and central New England. Snow showers are in the offing for the Upper Midwest. Mild air will cover the balance of the South, Midwest and West.
