F CUSOn Major Appointed as City Fire Chief City Manager Dale Iman has appointed Ben Major as the City's Fire Chief. Chief Major served as Interim Fire Chief since April, following the April 16 tornadoes, when former Fire Chief Benny Museum Holding Civil War Trails Program in October In conjunction with the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, the Fayetteville Area Transportation and Program Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 that will cover the closing events of the Civil War in Fayetteville and Cumberland County. The program features a day-long bus tour and is limited to 20 participants, so citizens should make their reservations now. "Chief Ben Major is an excellent choice as Fire Chief of the Fayetteville Fire Department, given his proven ability to oversee department operations, and since he served at the helm when the Fire Department received international accreditation," City Manager Dale Iman started with the Fayetteville Fire Department as a Fire Department and to providing great services to Fayetteville citizens. Chief Major has risen through the ranks, serving as a program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Md. As Fire Chief, Major will plan, direct and review the activities and operations of the Fire Department, Chief Major said, "I'm grateful to Mr. Iman for continued next page 20 11 City Boards Look to Fill Vacancies The All-American City of Fayetteville is Fayetteville Airport Commission and Stormwater Advisory Board. Each board has one vacancy. The Fayetteville Airport Commission administers the operation and maintenance of the Fayetteville Regional Airport. The commission meets the last conference room of Fayetteville Regional Airport, located at 400 Airport Road. Commission terms last for two years. The Stormwater Advisory Board provides guidance and advice to the City Council pertaining to the Stormwater Management Program, including, but not limited to, program activities, functions, systems, management, and each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Lafayette Room on Board terms last for two years. The City of Fayetteville relies on its citizen advisory boards and commissions to aid its Mayor and City Council in governing effectively. The citizens who volunteer for these positions are the link that connects the public to its governing body and are the advisors who make recommendations that ultimately shape the future of Fayetteville.
