Cheyenne Johnson added an All- Tournament performance. Mercy beat hosts ACA 44-35 behind a stellar Starman perfor- mance. The senior scored 17 points to go with nine rebounds, three assists and four steals. Johnson found herself all over the state sheet as well. She re- corded four points, five rebounds, six assists and four steals Tasha Pimentel chipped in with 10 points and five steals. DaphneNandinohadfivepoints, six rebounds and two steals. Mary Dimmagio and Annie Fe- ser each added four points. Starman then scored 31 points and Mercy pounded Dunsmuir 51- 15. Starman added eight rebounds and five steals. Johnson recorded 10 points, four assists and six steals in the win. Pimentel grabbed eight re- bounds and had two points. Dimmagio and Feser both added twopoints,Nandinohadfourpoints. The Lady Warriors improved to 5-6 with the wins. Corning won the cup in dra- matic fashion beating Shasta 2-1 in overtime. Alan Serrano had the cup win- ner in the 84th minute for Corn- ing. Shasta had tied the game in the second half, after Eric Figueroa gave Corning an early lead. The Cardinals played twice Friday to reach the Cup Final. Corning beat Willows 2-1 be- hind goals from Figueroa and Field Angeles. The Cardinals came from be- hind to beat Chico 3-1 in the semifinal. Raul Arent scored the equal- izer on a Cristiano Loera assist from a corner kick just before halftime. Jesse Serrano put the Cardi- nals on top following a rebound from a Salvador Mora shot. Mora would later tack on an insurance goal. Corning goalie Luis Luevano had a strong tournament behind strong defensive performances by Junior Gonalez, Joe Aguirre, Jose Reyes, Esil Rodriguez and Cristian Lince. The Cardinals improved to 5-2 on the season. The Cardinals visit Sutter at 3:15 p.m. today.
