ByAnneM.Peterson TheAssociatedPress Withinmomentsafterwin- ning the Rose Bowl for a spot in the national championship, the T-shirts were up on Ore- gon's website. "Won Not Done," the shirts read. The sentiment — also on tees made for opponent Ohio State — was perfect for the Ducks, who are a win away from proving once and for all that they belong among the nation's elite. It's a posi- tion they've been in once be- fore, when they faced Auburn for the national title to cap the 2010 season and came up short. "We've still got to finish this. We're one step closer to achieving everything we ever worked for, everything we ever wanted," senior linebacker Derrick Malone Jr. said. Oregon has never won a national championship. The Buckeyes have seven national titles dating back to 1942. Just a decade ago, the Ducks finished the season 5-6 but they'd flirted with national prominence in 2001 when quarterback Joey Harrington helped lead Oregon to the Fi- esta Bowl. Then Chip Kelly arrived in Eugene in 2007 and reworked Oregon's offense into a distinc- tive high-flying spread. Since then, the speedy Ducks have been consistently ranked. By Barry Wilner The Associated Press NEW YORK J.J. Watt found a unique way to make the 2014 Associated Press NFL All-Pro team announced Friday. Houston's Watt was listed on all 50 ballots by a nation- wide panel of media members who regularly cover the league, with 45 of the votes for defen- sive end and the other five for defensive tackle. So he actually was a first-team end and a sec- ond-team tackle in gaining his third straight selection. "Everybody always says you try and make it so the other team can't game plan you be- cause they don't know where you're coming from," Watt said. "I mean, half the time I have no clue where I'm com- ing from, so it makes it pretty tough for the other people, I think, and that's the goal." No such confusion for New England's Rob Gronkowski as the other unanimous pick. He grabbed all the votes for tight end. "He's, I think, when you say a kid playing the game, that's him," Patriots safety Devin McCourty said. "He don't care about anything, stats, if we're up or down, he's playing one way. PREP BASKETBALL Tourney teams too much for Spartans Bulldogs, Warriors pick up wins in Liberty event By Rob Maaddi The Associated Press While quarterbacks and other big-name, high-priced players get most of the attention, unlikely he- roes often emerge to help their teams win in the NFL playoffs. Three of the past four Super Bowl winners played in the wild- card round and each team got help from a surprise performer during its championship run. Packers rookie James Starks had 123 yards rushing in Green Bay's 21-16 win over Philadelphia on Jan. 9, 2011 after running for just 101 yards the entire season. Giants No. 3 receiver Mario Manningham caught touchdown passes in each of New York's first three playoffs wins in January 2012, nearly equaling his total of four TDs in the regular season. Ravens cornerback Corey Gra- ham matched his season total with two interceptions in one game against Peyton Manning, including a pick in overtime to set up the winning field goal in Baltimore's 38-35 win at Denver on Jan. 12, 2013. One of the top defensive per- formances came from unknown safety Vernon Perry in a playoff win. Perry intercepted four of Dan Fouts' passes and blocked a field goal in Houston's 17-14 vic- tory over San Diego on Dec. 29, 1979.
