Over the summer, a new wireless Internet infrastructure was installed, installation began on an automatic whole-house fire- suppression system, and construction started for a new room addition off the dining room. The room addition will provide adequate dining, meeting, and study space for the chapter members, as well as a beautiful patio on the roof of the addition. Currently, chapter members must eat chapter dinner in shifts, and chapter meetings are held in the living room. I hope that many of you will be able to join us for a very special alumnae brunch on November 2, during which our room addition will be blessed. Details on the brunch are included in the newsletter. Other major areas planned to be updated include: • Second- and third-floor bathrooms will be completely remodeled. • New bedroom furniture will be purchased for all 20 bedrooms. • Air conditioning will be installed on the first, second, and third floors. All of the amenities listed above are an expectation of current students at Ohio State, and many other chapters have completed or begun major remodeling projects, including the areas we have identified for upgrades to our chapter house. The bedroom furniture and bathrooms are all original to the construction of the house more than 50 years ago. Maintaining a competitive living environment is an essential component to attracting new members and keeping the house at minimum occupancy requirements. In addition to improvements being made to Greek housing, on-campus housing is an increasingly attractive option for our members with the improved residence halls on campus. Ohio State has been improving and constructing new residence halls to meet the demand for all sophomores to live on campus commencing in fall of 2016. The only exception will be for students living in sorority or fraternity chapter houses. In future newsletters, we will share more plans and opportunities for alumnae to assist in our efforts to keep the chapter house a safe, well- appointed, and modern home for our members for many years to come. Please remember to send in your updates so we can share your news in the next newsletter!
