MAKING CHANGES FOR THE BETTER In my report from the spring I stated that the 2013-14 school year was one of our chapter's most successful years in the past decade. In this report I am here to say that we will not be resting on our laurels. The undergraduates have every intention of building on the success of the previous year in order to extend the legacy of our beloved MO Alpha Chapter of Phi Delta Theta. RAISING EXPECTATIONS We have made scholarship a main priority and implemented improvements to our academic program, including enforcing stricter policies; for grades and creating incentive programs for those who succeed. This year we have the desire to do better and elected to change the minimum GPA from 2.5 to 2.8 for all members. We want to be the best fraternity in the nation and believe we can expect more of ourselves. THE FIGHT AGAINST ALS Last year, we were awarded the Iron Phi Chapter award, a MO Alpha first, for raising more than $18,000 to help fight ALS. This year we plan to beat it. Our first event was something that I'm sure all of you are aware of, the social media trend of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Our chapter, along with countless individual members, took the challenge and donated to the cause. RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION RATES ON THE RISE In the three years I have been at Mizzou, I have watched our chapter develop from a house of 60 men, to a chapter of 98—18 men above the campus average. We have done this with strong showings in recruitment, even pledging 30 new members this fall, and a strong pledge program for higher retention rates. My goal when I became president was to have a 100- man chapter, and after this spring, my goal will be achieved. UNDERGRADUATES ENJOY MEETING ALUMNI We were paired with the women of Pi Beta Phi and the men of FarmHouse for Homecoming. MO Alpha was led by dedicated group of individuals overseeing our preparation and as always the week was filled with fun, friendly competition. The second annual alumni tailgate the first weekend in November was an even bigger success than last year. With more than 200 alumni and family in attendance it was an event to remember. Missouri Alpha has a bright past and we are working tirelessly to provide it with a bright future. We know we would be nowhere without the support of our alumni and we thank you for all you do. We encourage you to stop by and see what we're made of.
