And with good reason. Who doesn't love to be pampered? And when you can get it all done in one place, so much the better! The Renaissance European Day Spa is truly an extravagant treat — a place to feel like Queen (or King) for a day. If you haven't been, you are truly missing out. Did you have a rough week? Do yourself a favor and visit The Renaissance European Day Spa and be treated like royalty. Not only does this day spa offer massages, body treatments, facials, body waxing and non-surgical facial rejuvenation, but it also has a nail salon and hair salon. The Spa Fitness and Wellness Center, the parent company of The Renaissance European Day Spa, began in 1975. With two locations, in Eutaw and Bordeaux Shopping Centers, The Spa has been a favorite of workout enthusiasts for over three decades. UCW readers have once again voted The Spa the Best Health Club/ Gym. In 1997, The Spa expanded their mission of enhancing the quality of life through physical fitness to include overall wellness, spawning the creation of The Resaissance European Day Spa within The Spa's Eutaw location. Their clientele grew quickly and it became obvious that a second facility was necessary to fill the demand. A second Renaissance European Day Spa was opened in 2006 on Purdue Drive. And our readers are still rejoicing. The two locations offer a variety of services with everything from leg and bikini waxing to mud wraps. The massages will leave you feeling relaxed, refreshed and ready to take on the world. You can also relax with a glass of wine or a smoothie and even enjoy a delicious spa lunch. The Spa and The Renaissance seem to offer the best of everything and their staff is no exception. Tanya Ferrar has been named the Best Massage Therapist for her expertise. She is just one of the reasons your trip to The Renaissance will be relaxing and enjoyable. Once you've worked out all your kinks (both physically and mentally) you can treat yourself to a mani-pedi. Fayetteville residents trust their hands and their feet to the trained staff at The Renaissance. You walk away glamorous and polished every time. Go ahead, enter the luxurious and relaxing atmosphere of The Renaissance European Day Spa and treat yourself; you deserve it! Best Little Known Attraction/Best Thing to Show Out of Towners/Best Museum Airborne and Special Operations Museum 100 Bragg Blvd., Fayetteville 910.643.2766 www.asomf.org Located next to the North Carolina Veteran's Park, the Airborne Special Operations Museum is truly a top-notch museum. The care and enthusiasm with which the curators, staff and volunteers tell the story of America's paratroopers and special operators is impressive, indeed. The facility is massive at 59,000 square feet, and includes thorough and impressive exhibits from 1940, the beginning of airborne operations through present day. In addition to the equipment and informational exhibits, ASOM prides itself on the living exhibits that are on the premises every day willing to share their stories and experiences, or listen to a story. These living, breathing treasures, the volunteers working in various capacities at ASOM, add insight and that human connection to the exhibits found throughout the facility, and are more than willing to spend time with visitors. The museum hosts events like book signings and 5 and 10k races which serve as fundraisers through out the year. National Airborne Day is celebrated with flair here each August and movies are also shown in the garden on special occasions. Like the Airborne and Special Operations soldiers that it honors, ASOM is a strong and steady member of the community, deserving of the accolades our reader's have bestowed upon it. 32 BEST OF FAYETTEVILLE SEPTEMBER 14-20, 2011 WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM
