3 Sigma Chi Connections Set Ryan Holt '95 on Holy Journey R yan Holt '95 doesn't know where he would be if it weren't for connections made at Delta Upsilon that have greatly impacted his life path. Ryan joined Sigma Chi with friends his freshman year because they were attracted to the great group of guys who were respected and did well on campus both academically and athletically. Right away, he began building connections with Delta Upsilon brothers and alumni. "I was able to make great connections with guys I have been friends with now for 20 years. I made a strong connection with our chapter advisor, Bill Carson '63, who helped me get my first job right out of college." While at his first job, Ryan met a gentleman who invited him to church. This connection ultimately changed Ryan's life, and led him to find the path God had for him. "God has really changed my life in the past 17 years. At age 23 I became a passionate Christian, and at age 30 felt the call of God to go into ministry." Ryan serves as the small group connections pastor at Journey Church International in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Ryan is still thankful for that Sigma Chi connection that ultimately led him to his connection with Christ. Ryan's advice to other Sig alumni or undergraduates would be similar to Matthew 6:33, Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. "God has taken care of me and my family as we have sought after Him and He will do the same for you!" Although a busy life at church and with family prevents Ryan from seeing as many of his Delta Upsilon brothers as often as he would like, he still finds time to see a few over lunch or barbecues. Last year, Ryan took his two oldest kids to their first K‑State football game and stopped by the house and showed them around. Ryan and his wife, Heather, whom he met his freshman year at the Sigma Chi house, live in Overland Park, Kansas, with their four children. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys coaching his children's sporting teams, fishing, and doing crossfit. Catch up with Ryan by contacting him at rholt@takethejourney.cc or at www.takethejourney.cc.
