He and his wife, Carol, had been married for 55 years. Dr. William H. Bales '58 entered Chapter Eternal on March 12, 2014. William S. Schicktanz '58 entered Chapter Eternal on September 13, 2012. He was president of Mercury Exploration Center, a consulting company that served the oil and gas business. He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, four children, and 10 grandchildren. Darrel R. Rawlings '59 entered Chapter Eternal in Redding, Calif., in September 2012. S. Douglas Perine '73 entered Chapter Eternal in September 2011 at Stormont Vail Hospital at age 60. He opened Doug's Pharmacy in Rossville in 1977 and later added the Flower Mart. Doug lived in Rossville for many years before moving to Lake Wabaunsee. He is survived by his wife, Rita; son, Jason; daughter, Jen; and seven grandchildren. alumni news Gordon E. Tempero '50 reports he has three granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, and two grandsons. Home for Gordon is still Aldersgale Village in Topeka. Willmeth '52 and his wife, Patricia, the new Farm House housemother, have three kids, two foreign exchange kids, and one foster child who all are now employed. They have three grandchildren: Chase, Nicholas, and Tyler, who live in Seattle, Wash. During the summers they take a trip to Kansas to visit family and sometimes head to K-State to look around. James and Mary love watching K-State basketball and football when they can. Neal R. VanDoren '59 still works as a part‑time office manager for the real estate company he has been with for 10+ years, trying to maintain the California style of life he and his wife, Dolores, have become accustomed to. Two of their children live close by and they enjoy their families on a weekly basis. Neal stays busy with his street rod show car, a 1941 Chevy Coupe.
