www.k-state.edu/sigmachi Large Recruitment Keeps Sigma Chi Strong Inside... 2 Thank You, Loyal Brothers 3 Spotlight on Ryan Holt '95 4 Work Ethic and Enthusiasm Increasing SIGMA CHI FRATERNITY AT KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY Fall 2014 T he fall semester of the 2014-15 school year is underway at K-State and the men of Sigma Chi hope to continue their recent growth and enthusiasm. This semester we have again successfully recruited a large pledge class and the undergraduates have lofty goals of improving themselves and providing a quality fraternity experience for all of the men in the house. Recruitment Chairmen Exceing as Chapter Grows I'm pleased with the continued effort of all of the men in the house but in particular the efforts of the recruitment chairmen. As you'll see in our consul's article on page 4, this year will be the fourth straight year in which we've recruited over 20 pledges. This is an extremely important accomplishment for several reasons. Having diverse classes of more than 20 members on a yearly basis keeps the house full, which helps with all aspects of their fraternity experience from academics and social opportunities to intramurals. It also allows the chapter to remain fiscally solvent as we move toward exciting times on the horizon. Being the recruitment chairman is one of the most important positions in the chapter and also one of the hardest. I'd like to thank all of the past and present recruitment chairmen for all of the hard work that they do through the year to bring quality men to Sigma Chi. Often times they are assisted by interested alumni who have provided them with contact information of individuals they know of who would be a good fit for our fraternity. This is always appreciated and I thank you for your efforts. As we move through this new school year please don't hesitate to contribute to our fraternity's future by passing along the names of interested individuals. The recruitment chairmen's contact information can be found in the consul's article. Join Coegians for Events The undergraduates have a number of activities planned for the school year, including alumni events and dad's and mom's weekend. Please consider attending if you can. The collegians are proud of what they've accomplished and the fraternity that they represent. Look for more information on these opportunities in the near future. Future Renovations As I've mentioned before, our goal is to undergo a significant house renovation in the future. To that end, the House Corporation is in conversations with a consulting firm about assessing the feasibility of our plans for a comprehensive remodel. This is certainly an exciting time for our chapter and we look forward to taking these initial steps. Thank you all for your support and interest in the fraternity. It's going to be a great year for Sigma Chi and K-State! In Hoc, Michael Carson '95 House Corporation President (785) 776-4912 mpc@bbnarchitects.com FUTURE PLANS TAKE SHAPE
