3 SIGMA CHI Time spent in Sigma Chi has also made a great impact on Chris' career path. Working as senior VP of field operations for ALSAC/St. Jude, his career goes back to Sigma Chi days and fundraising for Special Olympics. It hit him when he was umpiring a softball game for Special Olympics that he wanted to fundraise for a living. He also had help from his brothers while searching for a job. Gordon Brigman '70 helped him with fundraising, and Tim Brinkman '92 stepped in with a connection to ALSAC; his wife being a former St. Jude patient who worked for ALSAC, she helped Chris get his first job with the organization. During Chris' time in the Chapter, Dr. Ted Mealor '59 inspired him with guidance and insight and he looked up to Gordon Brigman. These relationships would continue, particularly as Chris and Gordon rallied brothers from the 1960s and '70s to give back to the active Chapter. As a member of the house corporation for nine years, Chris tries to make a trip to the house when he can, showing off the house to his co-workers when possible. He keeps up with the Chapter through close friends, including Brett Collins '04. He is proud to say that the undergraduate Chapter is at a high point in the Chapter's success. Chris stressed to alumni that there is no time like the present to reengage in Epsilon Kappa, saying, "Call an old pledge brother and rekindle those memories." The recent 60th anniversary celebration helped Chris with these connections and reaffirmed the value that Sigma Chi has had on his life. Chris lives in Memphis with his wife, Lisa, who is a teacher at Snowden Elementary. Their son and his wife recently had a daughter, Addie.
