college. James Lee '14 (A1654), chapter president, and the other
chapter officers ran a flawless ritual meeting and mock initiation
before opening our chapter room for viewing. After the meeting,
a barbecue lunch was served to brothers and returning guests by
Justin Stone '06 (A1549). We took group photos at the house,
Ricketts Hall, and the memorial seat and headed to the DCC for
our annual meeting.
Outgoing President John Reinhardt '94 (A1358) ran the meeting,
which included reports from officers, committee chairs, and the
active chapter. David Fowkes '89 (A1275) received the loudest
applause following his update of the fundraising and renovation
campaign. Alumni elected Norm Baldauf president and Casey
Hill '01 (A1481) vice president. We concluded with a moment of
silence for brothers who have passed onto Chapter Eternal.
AWARDS BANQUET
Saturday night, 375 brothers and guests filled both ballrooms of
The Franklin Terrace Ballroom for our banquet. The program
included speeches and awards. Chris Blanc '96 (A1404) opened
with a touching benediction that left many brothers teary eyed.
Faculty Advisor Dr. Chuck Boylen (A1593), Chapter Advisor Dr.
David Goldschmidt '94 (A1364), James Lee, John Reinhardt, and
Norm Baldauf regaled us with the history and successes of our
chapter and alumni association and described the bright future,
plans, and goals that lay ahead. Ned Spain (A1678) won the Jim
Lichtenberg Outstanding Alumnus Award and James Lee was
presented with the George M. Baker Outstanding Brother Award.
The evening ended in song as Ned Spain played piano and brothers
sang all eight verses of "The Rounder's Song." The chorus "Hail,
all ye rounders…" was enthusiastically roared out through the hall.
St. Peter surely noticed.
THANK YOU
Special thanks to Erica Eng, engaged to Mike Martin '10
(A1586), who helped organize and execute a significant portion of
the weekend activities and to David Fowkes whose perseverance
made this 6294 one for the ages. We could not have enjoyed such
a memorable weekend without the tireless effort of these and many
other Alpha chapter supporters.
Brothers gathered at the Ricketts Building at
Rensselaer to celebrate the 150th anniversary.
Brothers joined together April 24-29 to celebrate the
150th anniversary of Theta Xi and Alpha Chapter.
Memories were made that will last a lifetime.
