ByDaveBoehler TheAssociatedPress MILWAUKEE Michael Morse and Pablo Sandoval each drove in three runs to lead the San Francisco Giants to a 7-4 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night. Ryan Vogelsong (7-8) gave up one run on seven hits in six in- nings for the Giants to win con- secutive starts for the first time since May. On Friday, the right- hander allowed two hits in a com- plete game against the Mets. Milwaukee's Yovani Gallardo (6-6) had a streak of 16 2/3 in- nings without giving up a run snapped in the first when he al- lowed three of them. The right- hander gave up four runs on nine hits and walked four in four in- nings. His only shorter outing this season was May 20 at Atlanta when he left after 3 1/3 innings with an ankle injury. By David Ginsburg The Associated Press BALTIMORE They are NFL coaches on opposite ends of the country, so it isn't often that the Harbaugh brothers have a get-to- gether in August. The exception to the rule will occur this week. Jim Harbaugh and the San Francisco 49ers will face John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens today in the preseason opener for both teams. After that, the teams will practice together on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. No family gathering for the Harbaughs would be complete without Mom and Dad, so they're joining the festivities. Jack Har- baugh is a former football coach and mentor to both his sons, so it's pretty clear about what the topic of conversation will be at the dinner table. "It'll be a great chance to get to- gether, but (it's all) football," John Harbaugh said. "So, I guess it'll be exactly what it's supposed to be with our family." On the field, this encounter will be far less important than the pre- NFL PRESEASON FamilyaffairwithHarbaughs Jim's 49ers travel to Baltimore to face brother John's Ravens in preseason opener for both 49ERSATRAVENS Today: San Francisco at Balti- more, 4:30p.m., TV on KCVU, NFLN. THESCORE By John Hickey Bay Area News Group OAKLAND Sonny Gray was on a streak of six consecutive starts giving up zero or one earned runs, so when he gets kicked around like he did in the A's 7-3 loss to the Rays on Wednesday, it's easy enough to dismiss that as an ab- erration. It's less easy to be quite as char- itable with the Oakland offense, which has gone from potent to placid in the last week or two. The team that even now leads the major leagues in runs scored (554) has gotten away from its stated mission of working the count on starting pitchers and forcing them out of the game so that the A's can tee off against sec- ond-level relievers. It's a formula that the A's made work for them in the season's first 101 games, av- eraging 5.0 runs per game while averaging 152 pitches seen per game. In the last dozen games, the pitch count is down to 142 per game and the run production is down to 3.75 per game. That the A's have been able to go 6-6 dur- ing that stretch is primarily a credit to the pitching, including a bullpen that hasn't allowed a run in its last 25 innings. "We just have to get through it," first baseman Brandon Moss said. He was hitless in three at- bats Wednesday and is now 0 for 17, matching the longest hitless streak of his career. "The key is to do the best you can to not give away at-bats. We have to work at- bats." The A's are in a stretch where they're facing good pitching.
