Keefe Appointed to Corrections Board
From left, Brian Green, Adam Santini, Dewain Green, Meghan
Jett, Alexis Alexander, Cherome Jackson, Jalen Albea
and Samuel Welch visit the Courthouse during the Youth
Government Tour July 18. Not pictured is Kennie Almodovar.
The students held a mock board of commissioners meeting in
the Courthouse and voted on a proposed youth curfew. The
tour, sponsored by Cumberland County Cooperative Extension
4-H Youth Development Program, was held July 14-18 and
provided an opportunity for the young people to learn about
county government by visiting various departments and seeing
county operations firsthand.
Commissioner Jimmy Keefe has been appointed to serve
as a member of the North Carolina Community Corrections
Advisory Board representing urban county commissioners. Keefe
was appointed July 16 by N.C. Senate Pro Tem Phil Berger.
The Community Corrections Advisory Board is responsible
for reviewing criteria for monitoring and evaluating community-
based corrections programs, recommending priorities, reviewing
program standards and reviewing evaluations of programs.
