South and The Coast Chico's 46th Annual 4th of July Celebration Monday - One Mile Dam Recreation Area - Bidwell Park Celebrate the 4th of July with CARD, Do-It Leisure, the Chico Rotary and the Chico Parks Department. Events begin with the Inde- pendence Day 5K at 7 a.m. Reg- istration is $25. A pancake breakfast is scheduled 7:30-11 a.m. The Horseshoe Contest sign- ups will be at the pits 8:45-9 a.m. The Fife & Drum Band goes on at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Chico Community Concert Band at 10 a.m. Food, activities and crafts open between 10:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. “Let Freedom Ring” will be 12:15-12:45 p.m. and the Pie Eating Contest at 1 p.m. Pur- chase $1 tickets at the event. Fourth of July Pignic — Orland Visit Farm Sanctuary this July 4 to rub the bellies of beautiful pigs and celebrate the freedom of rescued farm animals. Free guided tours of the sanctuaries, plus vegan hot dogs and all the essential picnic trimmings, will make for a holiday you’re sure to enjoy. Red Bluff Daily News D & F Streets. The fireworks blast off around 9:30 p.m. Watch from the top of the dam or the lake. Parking is limited so car pooling is encouraged. There is no bus service this year. Dam road closes to vehicles at 3 p.m. Vendor set-up until 5 p.m. Non-profit vendors only. The Lake Oroville Fireworks Spectacular is sponsored by Bid- well Canyon Marina, Lake Oroville Marina, Feather Falls Casino, Lodge & Brewery, the City of Oroville and the Oroville Area Chamber of Commerce.
