4th of July and the Mountain Runner's Fun Run/Walk Mt. Shasta's largest annual event will begin in downtown Mt. Shasta on July 2 with a variety of live music by accomplished local musicians and bands, vendors and sidewalk sales from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mt. Shasta has long been known for the amazing number of professional musicians who live in the area. This year will feature all local groups and individuals perform- ing rock, blues, bluegrass, jazz, and folk music, interspersed with fantastic circus acts between each group. July 3 the fun will continue downtown from 10 a.m. until 7p.m. Music and circus acts on Saturday and Sunday are pre- sented by the Mt. Shasta Cham- ber of Commerce — www.mtshastachamber.com. July 4 will start off with the Mountain Runners Fun Run/walk — www.mtshastarunners.com, the largest small town run/walk in America, at 8:30 a.m. Register and have a good time competing in the running portion, or walking the two miles while being fed and entertained. Registered walk/run partici- pants have a chance to win the grand prize: a 2010 Nissan Versa 4 cylinder, 5 speed manu- al transmission. At noon the parade will be on its way. After the parade everyone can enjoy themselves at the Mt. Shasta Resort — www.mountshastaresort.com — for their traditional Customer Appreciation Day. Listen to great live music and get your favorite seat for the community's largest fireworks show yet — www.mtshastafireworks.com. Fireworks can also be viewed from the Lake Siskiyou Camp Resort beach — www.lakesis.com. Summer Schappell will perform at the Resort. There will also be circus performances at the Resort and Campgrounds, with a spectacu- lar fire performance following the fireworks on the beach at Lake Siskiyou. Mountain Runners of Mt. Shasta welcomes you to join us for this family fun and healthy annual July 4th event - 3 walks or races to participate in with great food and entertainment along the way. Live bands will be performing about every block along the route. At the end of your run or walk, enjoy gourmet delicacies from local restaurants. Along with the stationary live bands, enjoy rov- ing performances by the Mt. Shasta Walking Circus, which consists of professional stilt walkers, acrobats, contortion- ists, hula hoopers, unicyclists, musicians, clowns, belly dancers, costumed characters, mimes, and more.
