Back: Gary Krivo '14, Ray Kowalski '14, Mack Ott '14, Alex Cai '14, and Blake Torres '14. G reetings, brothers! May this newsletter find you and yours well and enjoying the summer. I hope that many of you will be able to come to Troy in a few weeks for Work Party 2014, August 15-17. Our annual house corporation membership meeting is Friday at 8 p.m., with popular ritualistic chapter meeting on Saturday night. Chef Chris Burnett is returning; we can expect great food with plenty of spirited brotherhood. Please plan to join us! It is hard to imagine that we recently concluded the first year inside the brand new fraternity house. Time flies, even when things don't always go the way you hope they will. Overall the renovation has been an overwhelming success. We still have some plumbing problems with epoxy shower walls and kitchen and chapter room floors. The good news is that our general contractor is fixing them all under the one-year warranty. Kudos to Brother Jim Manocchi '75 who continues to shepherd this remediation. Do you have any experience with the preservation of historic archives? See the article 1950 Sigma Chi Petition Discovered. Your board is looking for one or more experienced archivists for our historic documents. So if you have the knowledge to help us out, or you possess or are aware of other historic material pertinent to Phi Epsilon Phi and Delta Psi, please contact me. Board member Ken Sobel '12 has served the past two years with distinction as treasurer of the corporation and completing numerous tasks to further our mission. Unfortunately, Ken needed to resign to devote all of his energies to a new startup that he and other Delta Psi alumni, including his brother Stephen Sobel '14, have been working on for the last year. We wish Ken and his brother colleagues much success in their new endeavor. Brother Dan Zuber '10 has been elected to fill the year remaining in Ken's term. Congratulations, Dan! In addition to the loss of Brother Sobel from the board, Brother Ben Tashjian '07 has decided not to run for re-election this year. Ben has served on the board since 2008. More recently, he has divided his spare time between the risk manager office on the board and chapter advisor to the Syracuse chapter. During the planning stages of the renovation, he devoted much effort performing an energy analysis of the new building and how it would perform, providing tradeoffs between various heating and air-conditioning systems. We will miss Ben's contributions, as well as his thoughtful and well-reasoned decisions. Finally, I have also decided not to run for re-election. I would like to spend more time with my expanding family—we are up to four grandkids now! In addition, as some of you know, I have been battling some wellness issues that will require more of my time in the coming year to hopefully Phi Epsilon Phi Continues to Thrive with Help from Alumni (Continued on page 4)
