St. Peter's Episcopal Church volunteers will part- ner for the second year with the residents of the Sail House Adult Residential Fa- cility in hosting the church's rummage sale on 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church's Parish Hall. Sail House is a fully-fur- nished adult residential fa- cility that provides care to adults ages 18 through 59 who are unable to provide for their own needs. Located in a safe and quiet neighbor- hood in Red Bluff, the staff and caregivers are trained to provide assistance suit- able for adults and seniors who are physically handi- capped, and developmen- tally or mentally disabled. Proceeds from the Rum- mage Sale have been used in past years to support local organizations that help nur- ture the community through pastoral care and other life empowering agencies such as the PATH Coalition, Sal- vation Army and Family Counseling Center. Volunteers will be collect- ing clean, usable items from clothes and accessories to furniture, electronics, ap- pliances, décor and house- hold goods. Gently used do- nations will be accepted at the church Parish Hall on Wednesday and Thursday throughout the day. St. Peter's is at 510 Jef- ferson St., on the corner of Jefferson and Elm streets. Have you ever met someone with so much positive ex- citement for the fu- ture that they can't contain all the ideas that they have in their head? Terry Behrens is a woman relatively new to the area and she is a breath of fresh air. Terry has an "all-in" attitude that encourages every one she meets. It is purely infectious. I feel honored to have met Terry as she was thinking about ways to connect with commu- nity and be a positive part of what is going on. As I have gotten to know her, I feel like I have met some- one who is literally one in a million. Terry has an im- pressive resume and a wonderful personal story, but her credentials aren't what make her awesome. Terry's true gift is the gift of discernment and en- couragement. Terry is the type of per- son who rally's behind someone and their goals and dreams. She gets as excited as I do when some- one has an idea and wants to make it a reality. She brainstorms, offers ideas and helps solve problems all the while finding glori- ous new ways to encour- age and move forward. Terry is a great leader, who takes quick action in her own life to get to where she wants to be. There is no stopping her when she commits to an idea. She is like a lightning rod and her enthusiasm is contagious. How much of our success in life is personality based? How much of the influence that you have over others is based on your de- cision to be a force for positive over negative? Why is it that someone like Terry is so able to be a wonder- ful influence on others? In getting to know Terry, I can tell you she is not without her share of strug- gles. She has suffered im- mensely in this life. I can tell you that sometimes she fears, she feels de- pressed and she hits a wall. Why then, is she so effective in making a pos- itive impression wherever she goes? Terry has a natural curiosity about life that keeps her captivated. Terry has a genuine desire to be of service and assist others. Her ability to look beyond herself allows her to move through pain or setback and come out the other side. She just doesn't sit in her pain too long to keep her from being all that she wants to be. Be like Terry, be excited about other people and help them succeed. Share your thoughts, ideas and encouragement and see where it leads you. FaydraRector,MAisamen- tal health administrator, author, public speaker, ed- ucator and life coach who lives in Red Bluff.
