SURVEYING 100 YEARS By Sam Runge, New Member Class President T he Missouri Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon has been chartered for 100 years at the University of Missouri. Sigma Phi Epsilon is the largest fraternity nation wide, which proves its strong foundation of virtue, diligence, and brotherly love. As a new, incoming member of this fraternity organization, I wasn't quite sure what to expect leading up to MO Alpha's centennial celebration. As preparation came together for the open house on Friday night and the banquet on Saturday evening, I quickly got a glimpse of how important this time is for the many alumni from our chapter. I began to realize how unique this celebration was that I had the chance to take part in. I am honored to say that I am an incoming member during Missouri Alpha's 100th anniversary. Friday night I was present during the open house, giving me the opportunity to witness many brothers return and reminisce on their own time at Mizzou. All were excited to be back, reliving moments from the past, while being introduced to current and future members. I introduced myself to a handful of alumni, all of whom were happy to meet me and learn about who I am. That interaction gave me a sense of worth, a reason for being here and becoming an active member. Seeing the enthusiasm of these men during the events was a one-of-a- kind experience. After talking to the many alumni and observing them reminisce, I found myself thinking of the feeling I hope to have 15, 20, or 30-plus years from now. Many people put a great deal of hard work into this weekend gathering, and I believe it did not go unnoticed by the generations of men who returned. Mike Delaney '71 and Sean Delaney '14 celebrate their SigEp legacy. Recent graduates reunited for MO Alpha's anniversary. Undergraduates mingled with alumni as stories were shared from decades of SigEp history.
