SigEp A PUBLICATION FOR ALUMNI OF MISSOURI ALPHA t SIGMA PHI EPSILON SPRING 2014 Tiger Heart Inside: Alumnus Spotlight t 2 Surveying 100 Years t 3 Distinguished Alumnus Award t 4 Chapter Celebrates t 5 10 0 Y ears o f Missouri Al p ha RESOLUTION OF THE NATIONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF SIGMA PHI EPSILON ON BEHALF OF THE GRAND CHAPTER OF SIGMA PHI EPSILON FRATERNITY, the National Board of Directors RESOLVED: WHEREAS the Missouri Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at the University of Missouri was founded on 10 April, 1914; and WHEREAS the Missouri Alpha Chapter has been a leader of the Greek community and a model for fraternities at the University of Missouri; and WHEREAS the Missouri Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity produced three Grand Presidents – Paul G. Koontz 1916, John W. Hartman 1961 and Dennis W. Bond 1965; five Order of the Golden Heart Award recipients – Dennis W. Bond 1965, John W. Hartman 1961, Paul G. Koontz 1916, Fred A. Price 1917, and Fred G. Veinfurt 1903; two Citation Award recipients – Harold V. Boyle 1932 and Robert W. Broeg 1937, three District Governors – John W. Hartman 1961, William J. Looney 1958 and Edward S. Tichacek 1970; two Distinguished Alumnus Award recipients – John W. Hartman 1961 and J. Gregory Keller 1986, one past Headquarters staff – J. Gregory Keller 1986; ten Ruck Leadership Institute Scholars – Cole D. Kennedy 2016, Matthew McGrory 2006, Kyle D. Mings 2003, Paul Pattison 2005, John R. Peterson III 2011, Charles A. Roberts 2008, William E. Uthoff 2012, Michael G. Weber 2015, David R. Wolf 2005 and Kyle G. Zotta 2007; two J. Edward Zollinger Outstanding Seniors – Larry E. Weiss 1977 and Matthew D. Knipp 1997; and WHEREAS the Missouri Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity received two Buchanan Cups (1989, 2001), and its members have received numerous individual awards including the Clifford B. Scott Key Award and Volunteer Excellence Award; IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED, on this Tenth Day of April, Two Thousand Fourteen, that the National Board of Directors of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity heartily commends the Missouri Alpha Chapter for its diligence and excellence over the past one hundred years; and challenges the Chapter to continue the teaching and practice of our cardinal principles of Virtue, Diligence and Brotherly Love on the campus of the University of Missouri.
