Alumnus Says SAE Was Best Four Years of His Life Burt Cloud '66 Organizes Reunion G rowing up in Montgomery, Burt Cloud '66 attended several SAE rush parties during high school and had many friends who joined SAE. When he went through recruitment, he was honored to be offered a bid. "My four years at Auburn were the best four years of my life," Burt said. He has many fond memories of his time in the chapter house, and is grateful for the opportunities for leadership the chapter provided. Burt served as president of his pledge class, pledge trainer, Eminent Deputy Archon, and Eminent Archon. Burt was part of the Naval ROTC program, and a er graduating with a BS in industrial management, he was on active duty with the Navy Supply Corps for four years. He attended Georgia State University in Atlanta to obtain his MBA before beginning his career with Southern Bell Telephone Company. Southern Bell would later become Bell South, and then AT&T. Burt retired from Southern Bell a er 29 years and began a new career in residential real estate with Coldwell Banker, which he has been doing for the last 14 years. In addition to the leadership skills he learned in the chapter, Burt is grateful for the alumni network SAE offers. " e unlimited network of friends all over the country is important in any business," he said. Burt was instrumental in the organization of the '60s reunion held at the chapter house in March. e event was a huge success, and nearly 100 alumni enjoyed the opportunity to spend time at the chapter house and see brothers and friends. "Everybody shared the feeling that it was wonderful to reconnect with people who were part of their college experience," he said. Burt looks forward to having similar events in the future and would love for more alumni to reconnect. Burt and his wife, Sherry Grace, who was a Phi Mu at Auburn, live in Atlanta. ey have two children, Cary '95 and Lindsey, and three grandchildren. Burt recently served on the Auburn Alumni Association board of directors. He and Sherry enjoy attending all Auburn home football games.
