University of Oklahoma Page 3 Help Send Our Members to St. Jude We Truly Appreciate Your Support T heta Gamma is starting a new tradition and will be taking a trip to St. Jude each year. This January, Tri Delta's partnership with St. Jude became real to me as I stepped into the hospital for the first time. I had the privilege of representing our chapter at the 2014 Tri Delta St. Jude Leadership Weekend. While in Memphis, I toured the hospital, attended workshops, exchanged ideas, and met other Tri Delta leaders who had the same passion and commitment to St. Jude. Tri Delta's fundraising efforts are incredibly important as they go toward finding a cure for pediatric cancer. The money we raise contributes to the $1.9 million it takes to run the hospital each day, and has taken the leukemia survival rate from 4% to 94%. The funds also help provide a home and hope for the displaced and hopeless. Visiting St. Jude and witnessing how important their mission is was enlightening. St. Jude's halls are decorated with the four seasons of the year. They are colorful and have Tri Delta symbols all throughout the scenes, including paintings of young ladies wearing Tri Delta t-shirts, Tri Delta Greek symbols, and dolphins. The chapter's hope is that every woman who pledges Tri Delta at OU will have the opportunity to visit St. Jude and tour the miraculous place A Tri Delta wall in St. Jude. A lovely Tri Delta mural placed along the walls in St. Jude. Watch a Video of Our Trip to St. Jude Online! Congratulation to Amber Morrow '11 for receiving the Philanthropy Chairman of the Year award! that we diligently support. Several alumnae have already contributed to our first annual trip to St. Jude. This was scheduled for February, but had to be postponed until this spring. Special thanks to everyone who has already contributed! We continue to seek donations to help us send as many sisters to St. Jude as possible. All donations, of any size, are greatly appreciated. If you would like to sponsor a member's seat on the bus, you can send a check for $85 to Annie Harrington, Delta Delta Delta, 1611 College, Norman, OK 73072. Please make out your check to Theta Gamma Delta Delta Delta and write St. Jude Trip in the memo line. Ladies, you have paved the way for us to do great things. We cannot thank you enough for investing wholeheartedly into our dreams and desires as Tri Delta women. We look forward to your support this semester. Delta Love, Annie Harrington '12 Philanthropy Chairman Tri Delta Receives Miracle Maker Award at Soonerthon T ri Delta was honored with the Miracle Maker award for raising the most money as an act for Soonerthon on March 8. CAC Soonerthon is OU's largest philanthropy that raises funds for the Children's Hospital Foundation through the Children's Miracle Network Hospital branch called Dance Marathon. During the event, more than 2,000 OU student registrants show their support for the young patients by "standing for the kids who can't" for 12 hours. This time represents the 12-hour shifts nurses and doctors endure and the 12-hour round trip families take to ensure the best treatment. This year, CAC Soonerthon raised more than $318,000! More than 100 Tri Deltas participated in the event, raising over $2,000. More than 20 Tri Deltas were on the CAC Soonerthon executive committee that helped plan and promote the fundraiser. Theta Gamma showed even more support by participating in Soonerthon's Adopt-A-Family program, where organizations on campus are paired with Miracle Families from the Children's Hospital Foundation. Under the program, they plan events for their family throughout the year. Tri Delta had the honor of adopting Maddison Murphy and her family and supporting her throughout the year as well. We couldn't be more proud of our Theta Gamma Chapter and all its support. Sisters Help Raise $2,000 for the Children's Hospital Foundation Tri Delta won the Miracle Maker award for raising the most money at Soonerthon.
