NU NU NU news news news Official Alumni Newsletter of Nu Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. Spring 2014 Y ou should see it now! The old house looks new again. The downstairs is impressive for visitors with beautiful hardwood floors and new carpeting on the stairs and upstairs floors. The bathrooms have been redone and modernized, including the first-floor guest bathrooms. The brothers are enjoying the new basketball court and goals, at least when the ice and snow are off. The last alumni meeting was on October 5, 2013. Before the 11 a.m. game, all enjoyed a tent on The Hill where breakfast and hot coffee was served in the windy conditions. The atmosphere was lively and it provided a good place to talk and laugh with fellow alumni and undergraduates. The business meeting was devoted largely to extensive reports by chapter officers, questions from alumni, and deciding the next improvement projects to pursue. A security camera system is needed in addition to redoing the south and east lawns and adding a sprinkling system. The board is looking for alumni to serve a two-year term starting at the spring meeting on Saturday, April 26. If you would like to become more involved, please contact me at the e-mail to the right. Would you be willing to serve? Last semester was a challenging one as we tried to cope with changing expectations and new rules and regulations that all fraternities must operate within. I want to commend the chapter officers and board members who have stayed the course to serve our fraternity and change how we do business. A meeting of several board members and past and present chapter officers was held on January 25 at the Oread Hotel, and the atmosphere was very upbeat. We talked about past, present, and future prospects and opportunities to improve. It gave us a chance to meet each other and learn what each expects from the other while learning that we share common goals. Philanthropies, social events, and improved organizational structures are being planned. See you in Lawrence on April 26! It was a great success and we had more than 60 alumni return for the event. All enjoyed a fun afternoon of tailgating, football, and catching up with old friends. It was great to see everyone return to their college roots here at Nu Chapter. We look forward to seeing everyone again here soon for our spring alumni event on April 26. It has been a pleasure working with everyone as the alumni coordinator, and I look forward to working with you all again as the new lieutenant commander.
