Renovation Project Goals W hile the Delta Xi experience is certainly more than the bricks and mortar of the house, our home undoubtedly plays a significant role in the development of our sisters and is a proud symbol of our shared values and goals. Built in 1926 with the addition of the annex in the 1980s, 901 Richmond Avenue has been a part of Delta Xi's legacy for more than 85 years and is showing its age. It has become clear that we must make a major investment in our home if we are to remain competitive, provide a quality meeting and study environment, and support our collegiate sisters. KEEPING OUR SISTERS SAFE AND PRESERVING OUR LEGACY The safety of our 240+ collegiate members is of the utmost importance to the Delta Xi House Corporation; we must offer a structurally sound and safe home for our collegians. The City of Columbia has mandated that all fraternity and sorority houses must have fire suppression systems in place by 2014. The House Corporation met this requirement by installing the equipment in 2011. However, there are additional challenges to address, such as outdated bathroom facilities, kitchen appliances, and a lack of adequate living and meeting space for our members. These challenges have led the House Corporation to move forward with a major construction project to address these needs and ensure the safety of our members. Much like our personal homes, our chapter house must be a safe haven that instills confidence in our members and their parents. PURSUING EXCELLENCE The University of Missouri is as academically challenging as ever and the need for enhanced, quiet, well-lit, and comfortable study space within our facility is necessary for our members to achieve. We have all seen the impact of technology over the years, as devices not present during your college years are now necessities, including personal computers and high-speed wireless Internet access. Our plan will ensure that Delta Xi collegians have the amenities they need to excel academically, as well as remain scholastic leaders on campus and within the Greek system. SETTING TRI DELTA APART While Delta Xi Chapter continues to attract some of the top women on campus, we know that we are losing quality potential members to other sororities that offer more modernized homes and amenities. Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Phi, Chi Omega, Delta Gamma, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Pi Beta Phi, Sigma Kappa and Sigma Sigma Sigma are among the sorority chapters that have built new homes, added on, renovated or are making major changes to their facilities at MU. In addition, numerous fraternities on campus have made or are completing renovations to their chapter houses. Competition is strong and we cannot allow Tri Delta to be left behind other chapters on campus. In summary, we can no longer meet the needs of our members with regard to our chapter house and sustain the future of our chapter. In order for Tri Delta to remain a premier sorority at Mizzou, we must create a home that will attract quality members for years to come.
