Well, at Red Bluff Union High School, a professional in each field presented to ninth-graders at Frosh Speaker Day on March 15. A goal of the Small Learning Commu- nities Grant recently received by the high school was to bring back the popular event, which has gone dormant for several years. The high school part- nered with Expect More Tehama to coordinate. Eleven local professionals were greeted on campus by students who escorted them to their assigned classrooms — quite a relief to those who haven’t stepped onto a large campus in a while. Arrests •Antoinette Augerlavoie, 37, of Red Bluff was arrest- ed Friday near the Furniture Depot in Red Bluff. She was held without bail on a warrant charging her with possession of a controlled substance. • Luis Jose Martinez- Farias, 27, and Estanislado Martinez-Blanco, 53, both of Corning were arrested Thursday in the 5300 block of Houghton Avenue in Corning. Martinez-Farias was charged with cultiva- tion of marijuana and pos- session of marijuana for sale. His bail was set at $50,000. Martinez-Blanco was charged with illegal entry and detained on an immigration hold. • Daniel Neil Hurd, 44, of Red Bluff was arrested Thursday near Wilder and Live Oak roads. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, transportation of a con- trolled substance, and pos- session of controlled sub- stance paraphernalia. Bail was set at $37,500. It turned out to be only trash, which was disposed of. • Henry Stevens, 79, of Red Bluff was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Redding with moderate injuries after he was run over by his own truck at 5:40 p.m. Thursday on pri- vate property on Live Oak Road, west of Happy Trail Drive. Stevens was sitting in his 1994 Chevy Pickup, with the driver’s door open and the engine running, when he took his foot off the brake pedal and the vehicle began to roll forward. Stevens put his left foot on the ground in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but the forward momentum of the pickup pulled Stevens out of pickup and onto ground where the left rear wheel ran over Stevens’ right leg. • A woman reported Thursday evening that three people entered the Round Up Saloon and sprayed her and other bar patrons with to the victim’s. Email scam alert issued from Shasta County DA’s Office the second victim. The scammer will then claim to be the victim, explaining that he is on vacation in a foreign coun- try and had his wallet stolen, which included a passport and credit cards. The scam- mer will add other hardship information and request that the recipient send money for him to purchase a plane ticket home. The scammer would then await the money from silly string before heading north on Washington Street. She asked that the suspects be admonished but police officers were unable to find the culprits. Crash • An-18-year-old Red Bluff man was uninjured a crash at 10 p.m. Thursday on Adobe Road, east of Wilcox Road. Thomas Boughton-Dun- lap was driving his 1992 Honda Accord east on Adobe Road about 70 mph when due to his unsafe speed for wet road condi- tions he lost control of his vehicle while on a right- hand curve. The vehicle ran off the south road edge and up an embankment where it hit a metal stock fence, damag- ing eight metal fence posts and about 80 feet of fence, before sideswiping a tree. His vehicle had major dam- age. Fire • A vehicle fire involv- ing a Volkswagen was reported at 12:10 a.m. Fri- day on Dora Avenue in Corning. The vehicle was unoccupied and no one was injured. The first unit arrived at 12:23 a.m. and reported a fully-involved vehicle fire. The fire, which did $20,000 dam- age, was contained at 12:27 a.m. The cause was electrical.
