Collegiate Achievements and Honors Chapter honors Phi Chapter prides itself on striving to improve upon their achievements from years past. In the 2012-13 academic year, Alpha Chi Omega was recognized by the University of Kansas Office of Greek Life for: • Outstanding New Member, Jami Bechard '12 • Award of Excellence in Chapter Management • Award of Distinction for Academic Performance • Award of Distinction for Membership Development and Education • Award of Distinction for Risk Management and Legal Liability • Award of Distinction for Leadership and Campus Engagement • Award of Distinction for Community Awareness The chapter achieved a GPA of 3.32 in spring 2013 (ranked third on the Hill). The women of Phi Chapter take satisfaction in their work ethic, leadership, and scholastic achievement. University honors and involvement • Overall Homecoming Winners 2010, 2011, 2013 • President and Vice President Alumni Relations of Student Endowment Board • Coordinator of KU Student Ambassadors • Executive Director and Director of Recruitment of KU for St. Jude Children's Hospital • Founder of Hannah & Jayhawk Friends • Vice President of The House That Greeks Built • Managing Editor of the University Daily Kansan • Director of Development for the Big Event • Vice President of Natural Ties • Four Alpha Chi Interns at KU Hillel • KU Dance Marathon Steering Committee – Two Members • VP Recruitment for the Order of Omega aChievements and honors from headqUarters The women of Phi Chapter have been recognized for several of their achievements by our national organization. Specifically, the chapter has been awarded for excellence in the following areas: • Recruitment • Member Education • Ritual and Heritage • Jami Bechard '12 was announced as the Amy DuBois Rieth Outstanding Emerging Leader by our natonal organization for her involvement in our chapter, on campus, and in the community. This award honors only one newly initiated member out of more than 130 Alpha Chi Omega chapters. It is designed to honor an emerging leader who has embraced the ideals of the Fraternity, shows great potential, and is already taking steps to actively participate. philanthropy The compassion and generosity of Alpha Chi Omega women are demonstrated in our commitment to giving back to our community. Since 1992, Alpha Chi Omega has built awareness of domestic violence to help prevent it and to put an end to it. Through a variety of programs, Phi Chapter members staff domestic violence hotlines, organize awareness events, volunteer at local women's shelters, and collect needed items for women and children living there. In Lawrence, Phi Chapter supports the Willow Domestic Violence Center. The Spring Forward Week event in spring 2013 raised funds for the Willow Center and was also dedicated to preventing sexual assault and campus dating violence at KU. Spring Forward Week mixed educational activities with fun events to raise awareness for the cause. In October 2013, Phi Chapter partnered with Downtown Lawrence Inc.'s third annual Girls' Night Downtown charity event. Participants bought tickets to access special discounts at more than 40 downtown businesses. All ticket proceeds went to the Willow Center. Members participate in the Big Event, spring 2013.
