Setting Ourselves Apart
O
ur home plays a significant role in defining our chapter and
recruiting quality women. It must be attractive, comfortable
and safe, as well as provide modern amenities.
Recently, a number of other KU sororities–such as Gamma Phi Beta,
Pi Beta Phi and Chi Omega–have made significant structural, systems
and design improvements to their houses to ensure their competitive
positions and long-term stability. Most of these chapters have also
completed prior renovations during the past 10 years.
In addition to its appearance, our house must keep up with students'
technology needs, providing high-speed wireless Internet access for
personal computers and other devices to ensure our young women
have every academic advantage to maintain Alpha Chi Omega's
strong scholastic standing. Providing comfortable, quiet study spaces
within rooms and designated study areas is also a necessity that we
cannot ignore.
oUr plan
Phi Chapter alumnae and the collegiate leadership have studied the
chapter house needs and developed a plan to renovate and update our
facility. The plan provides a lovely home and serves the technological
and academic needs of today's members.

S
ince there have been no renovations in 45 years, we faced
an urgent need to begin the project immediately to provide
a safe, comfortable and inviting environment for our
members and also to remain competitive with other sororities and
on-campus university housing. Therefore, we chose to start the
renovations in 2012 with funding provided via a bank loan.
