Building for the Next 100 Years
T
he foundation of our campus lives was the chapter house. It provided
stability, comfort and a sense of pride. It was our home.
The chapter house at 1500 Sigma Nu Place was built in 1968 and has not undergone
a major renovation in 45 years. What once were beautiful rooms with lovely
furnishings are now very worn and outdated.
As we look forward to our 100-year anniversary, what better time to invest in
the home that served us so well. We have the opportunity and responsibility to
ensure the Phi tradition continues for future generations. We urge your thoughtful
consideration of the Phi Chapter renovation project, which is outlined in the
following pages.

n 2014, we will celebrate an important milestone: 100 years of Alpha Chi Omega at the
University of Kansas. That's 100 years of lasting friendships, 100 years of scholastic
excellence and proud achievements, and 100 years of wonderful memories.
Phi Chapter has played a role in shaping the lives of nearly 3,000 KU women during this time.
It has helped young women experience the importance of teamwork, understand the value of
philanthropy, become leaders in their careers and communities, and attain their goals. In short,
Alpha Chi Omega has helped all of us become who we are today.
A women's organization by the name of the Alpha petitioned Alpha Chi Omega Headquarters in
spring 1914 for a charter. Note: The University of Kansas used the terms KU, KSU, Kansas State
University and the University of Kansas interchangeably from 1866 through the 1930s.
