This statement may mean the world to you, or, quite possibly, it might be something that you have never really thought twice about. I encourage you to think twice. Think first about your experience when you were a collegiate member. What were your dreams and aspirations for yourself? What was your fondest memory of being an Alpha Chi Omega? Hopefully, there are too many to count! Think second about your experience as an alumna of Alpha Chi Omega. Have you made unexpected connections? Have you been enriched by the opportunity to support your local chapter? Is there something you still want to do, but just don't know how or what? Every sister has her own unique experience and memories. Every sister has her own reasons for supporting Xi Chapter in the way that makes the most sense for her. Every sister has her own motivation to read this very newsletter, and for that, we thank you! Membership in Alpha Chi Omega is for a lifetime, not just the four (or so!) years in college. Our organization has countless opportunities available to you, ranging from social outlets to networking to professional development and, yes, sisterhood. They are yours for the taking—have you taken advantage of them yet? Xi Chapter is always in need of your support. From our sisters, we need time. We need you to be present, to volunteer, be active, and to support your sisters. And to be honest, we also need money. As a non-profit, 501(c)(7), the Xi House Corporation is "organized for pleasure, recreation, and other nonprofitable purposes." Our goal is to provide a safe and sound living environment for our active members, as well as a well-maintained home where our alumnae feel welcomed and included. Our short-term goals for the home are to update the kitchen space, provide updated fixtures, and a better flow for today's culinary and dietary needs. We hope to tackle this project over this coming summer. We are close to our goal of raising $50,000, and we would be grateful for your monetary support for this endeavor. Additionally, we would like to provide some updated windows for the sleeping rooms. Some of these windows date back to the genesis of our home at 716 North 16th Street! We feel this most definitely falls into the category of providing "safe and sound housing." This too will come at a cost, but one that we feel is very beneficial to the house. As always, if you feel so inclined, Xi Chapter actives and alumnae would welcome any support you would like to give. Today is your day. Maybe it's in giving your time, your talents, or even a monetary donation. We will all benefit from whatever you are able to give. I thank you for your sisterhood. YOU are a big part of why we do what we do! In the bond, Katie Belka Becker '98 katelandb@gmail.com Think Twice: RemembeR why Xi chapTeR is impoRTanT To you Xi Chapter Improves in Scholarship, Philanthropy, and Recruitment T he fall semester was full of excitement at Xi Chapter. We welcomed a wonderful new member class and initiated them into our sisterhood. Xi Chapter also had successful philanthropic events. Additionally, elections produced a brand new executive board that was eager to begin the new term. Study Hours Program Continues While fall semester grades are still being calculated for the chapter, our house GPA has been gradually increasing and we are confident that it will continue to rise. Outgoing Vice President of Intellectual Development Payton Gaines '11 implemented an effective study hour system that Kylie Beck '13, the newly elected vice president of intellectual development, hopes to (Continued on page 4)
